The Media Research Center is a big fan of viciously homophobic right-wing agitator Matt Walsh even though he has been repeatedly exposed as a liar — he deceived people into appearing in his film “What Is A Woman?” by promising that it would be balanced instead of the anti-transgender screed it actually was and asked gotcha questions instead of having genuine conversations, and he spread falsehoods about the type of pride-related merchandise Target carried in order to manufacture anti-LGBT outrage among his right-wing followers. He also pretended to move to Virginia for the sole purpose of screeching his homophobia at a school board meeting, which shows just how pathological his hatred is.
The MRC has no problem with Walsh’s lies and deceit — after all, it hates LGBT people as much as he does. Tom Olohan repeated some of those lies in an Aug. 18 post cheering on Walsh’s hate:
Daily Wire host Matt Walsh spiked the football following admissions of serious financial damage and promises to learn from the experience from Target.
Target sales fell in the 2nd Quarter of 2023, marking the latest fallout from Target’s disturbing decision to display “tuck-friendly” bathing suits, pride merchandise from a satanic designer and pride merchandise for kids. Target Chief Growth Officer Christina Hennington admitted on Wednesday that “the reaction is a signal for us to pause, adapt and learn.” Walsh summed up the fallout and her response:
“That represents them bending the knee to us for a change. And you can always point out that, ‘Well they still have pride stuff, they didn’t even get rid of it at the time, they just moved it to the back of the store.’ Do I think that come pride month next year that they’re going to have no pride merchandise at all, that there’s going to be no rainbows? No, of course they’ll still have some of that stuff. But they’re going to tamp it down considerably and they’re going to do it because we demanded it, and that is a victory.”
[…]The success of this boycott is not only a victory for conservatives, but for Walsh as well. In late May, the podcast host called upon conservative women to help bring Target to heel. It appears that some of them answered the call, while Walsh indirectly complimented them by discussing boycotters changing their routine.
Olohan censored the fact that, as we documented, “tuck-friendly” swimsuits were never marketed to children as Walsh claimed, and the “satanic designer” is not satanic at all. Indeed, Olohan censored any criticism of Walsh and his history of lies, and he left uncommented upon the fact that Walsh is trying to destroy businesses simply for not hating LGBT people as much as he does.
Olohan would continue to serve as Walsh’s stenographer of his hateful agenda. His whining about a video Apple issued got loving treatment from Olohan in a Sept. 15 post:
Daily Wire host Matt Walsh ripped Apple for debuting a video bragging about its achievements to “Mother Nature” – a move he says possibly tops even Bud Light’s woke advertising.
Walsh responded to an embarrassing video posted by Apple CEO Tim Cook on X, formerly known as Twitter, on the Sept. 14th edition of The Matt Walsh Show, saying it might be the “cringiest corporate virtue signal of all time” and possibly worse than Bud Light’s advertising.
After playing part of the video, Walsh panned the video for “uber-wokeness,” “wokeness on steroids” and “corporate woke virtual signaling” before mocking Tim Cook as a “company CEO groveling to Mother Nature.”
[…]Walsh ended the segment by sarcastically commending Apple for finally innovating, “when it comes to the realm of cringey corporate virtue signaling.”
Olohan sycophantically gushed over Walsh’s hate again in an Oct. 6 post under the slobbering headline “Matt Walsh Takes a Sledgehammer to Woke North Face”:
Daily Wire host Matt Walsh called out The North Face for allegedly assisting a deranged brand ambassador in getting a man fired from his job.
Walsh referenced a defamation lawsuit filed by America First Legal on behalf of John Talbot — a former research product manager at apparel company Outdoor Research — against The North Face on the Oct. 4th edition of The Matt Walsh Show. Talbot was fired from his company amidst a pressure campaign led by leftist activists from The North Face clothing brand after “falsely” being accused of making a racist comment, per the lawsuit. Specifically, Walsh blasted Manoah Ainuu, North Face’s brand ambassador, and Dave Burleson, a North Face athlete coordinator, for igniting yet another cancel culture mob. “It’s just an incitement to harass some random guy,” Walsh said. Walsh also drew attention to both The North Face and Outdoor Research companies, sarcastically asking how they ought to have responded to Ainuu’s rambling accusatory video “What do you do when you’re confronted with a rambling video like this which doesn’t even come close to making any kind of substantive accusation at all, Walsh said.
Olohan whined that the accuser appeared on TV while being non-heterosexual:
Ainuu has twice appeared in CNN stories, including a profile that provided him an opportunity to vent about “microaggressions” in his line of work like people noticing his hair and to say that living in a predominantly white area weighs heavily on him. He also appeared on NBC after climbing Mount Everest in 2022.
Olohan didn’t mention that, unlike Ainuu, neither he nor Walsh have scaled Mount Everest, which suggests a certain level of jealousy in their attacks on him.
Ollohan cheered Walsh’s self-aggrandizement over launching a boycott of Bud Light for not sufficiently hating transgender people in a Dec. 15 post:
The Daily Wire host Matt Walsh declared that “the Bud Light boycott is still on,” after Dana White called for conservatives to drink the woke company’s beer.
On the Dec. 13 edition of The Matt Walsh Show, Walsh explained that the successful boycott was incredibly significant and that those who have abandoned Bud Lite should not back down. “[F]or once in our lives, for once ever, in modern American history, conservatives fought back in an organized, competent, effective way. We organized a boycott. We stuck with it,” he said. “We actually made the woke company feel the pain. We imposed our will in a way that conservatives have never been able to do, ever. The Bud Light boycott is by far — and it’s not close — the most effective conservative boycott of a major company ever, of all time.”
Bud Light partnered with “transgender” actor Dylan Mulvaney, who claimed to be a woman, in April. As Walsh described it, “Bud Light, the foreign-owned brand tried to push [the left’s] trans ideology. It spat in the face of its own customers.” The incident led to a national boycott that cost Bud Light’s parent company Anheuser-Busch billions of dollars and ended Bud Light’s run as America’s top-selling beer. The company’s disastrous, woke blunder caused such universal distaste for the brand that Anheuser-Busch CEO Brendan Whitworth confessed on national television that his company was providing “financial assistance” to wholesalers. Bud Light sales have repeatedly and drastically underperformed month-to-month compared to 2022, among other humiliations.
Olohan didn’t explain why people who don’t spew hate at LGBT people the way he and Walsh do must face “humiliations,” of why he put “transgender” in scare quotes, or why simply associating with Mulvaney is reason enough to intimidate and blackmail a company for doing so.
Walsh brought his sycophancy for Walsh into this year as well. A Feb. 14 post gushed over Walsh ranting about a Super Bowl commercial related to economics, about which has no demonstrated expertise:
The Daily Wire host Matt Walsh took apart President Joe Biden’s self-defeating Super Bowl video about “shrinkflation.”
On the Feb. 12 edition of The Matt Walsh Show, Walsh pointed out the absurdity of Biden’s Super Bowl video which highlighted snack food “shrinkflation,” or the practice of shrinking the amount of food in a package to avoid raising prices.
Walsh mocked the president for inviting the public to look under the rug and see “yet another marker of a poor economy,” an example of inflation they may have overlooked. The president also shirked any responsibility for causing the problem.
[…]Still, Biden gave Americans a timely Super Bowl-themed reminder that Bidenflation is real while simultaneously blaming companies and accepting none of the blame himself.
Neither Walsh nor Olohan offered any evidence that Biden is the sole cause of inflation — a longtime bogus narrative at the MRC.
Olohan slobbered over Walsh ranting about another thing he has no expertise on in a March 29 post:
The Daily Wire host Matt Walsh hammered a major television network for trying to sell an unconstitutional Environmental Protection Agency power grab to the American public.
On the March 27 edition of The Matt Walsh Show, Walsh went after both the EPA and CBS News for defending President Joe Biden’s push to “phase out all gas-powered vehicles.”
After playing a CBS News segment on the EPA power grab that was announced on March 20th, Walsh noted that both EPA Administrator Michael S. Regan and the cast at CBS pushed an illusion of choice on Americans, insisting that the EPA’s new regulation was not truly an electric vehicle mandate.
[…]The Daily Wire host laid Biden’s plans bare with none of CBS’ careful language. “The Biden administration is using the EPA, using a bureaucracy, using unelected bureaucrats to effectively pass a law banning the sale of most gas cars without ever consulting the voters and without ever getting the legislative branch of government involved at all,” Walsh said. He also noted that the law-making responsibility usurped by the EPA belongs to Congress.
But a partisan rant is not a fact-check, and Olohan couldn’t be bothered to fact-check anything Walsh said.
Olohan touted even more right-wing talking points from Walsh in a May 3 post:
The Daily Wire host Matt Walsh reported on the immense damage caused by a recently discredited report used by many corporations to justify discriminatory Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives.
During the May 1 edition of The Matt Walsh Show, Walsh applauded UNC-Chapel Hill Professor of Accounting John R. M. Hand and Texas A&M Associate Professor of Accounting Jeremiah Green for their work exposing a series of studies by management consultancy firm McKinsey & Company that claimed to show the so-called benefits of DEI initiatives.
“They simply lied and because they lied a lot of people in this country have lost job opportunities on the basis of characteristics that they can’t control,” Walsh said, referring to McKinsey and their debunked studies. “Many companies have become less efficient and now finally the fraud is officially exposed, thanks to the work of a couple of business school professors who were brave enough to do their jobs, which is extremely rare now in academia.”
Walsh is simply repeating talking points against DEI other right-wingers have spouted, including the MRC, so we’re not sure why his ranting deserves its own post. That anti-DEI stance, by the way, is racist at its core because it assumes that people who have benefited from such policies like people of color are incompetent employees and do not deserve the jobs they hold.
Olohan somehow neglected to devote a post to Walsh ranting that Beyonce is popular only because she’s attractive.
