Newsmax loves to pretend it has some semblance of balance in order to present itself a something of a legitimate news outlet and not the pro-Trump propaganda outlet it actually is, such as slapping labels on pro-Trump columns laughably denying that they are an endorsement from Newsmax itself (as if Newsmax would endorse anyone else). That charade collapsed further with an April 26 tweet with a picture of Melania Trump declaring: “HAPPY BIRTHDAY to former first lady Melania Trump, who turns 54 today.”
We’re not aware that Newsmax has wished a happy birthday to, say, Jill Biden. Which makes this pretty much an ego play for its preferred presidential candidate, Melania’s husband — and in doing so further undermines any claim to legitimacy and objectivity Newsmax might claim as a “news” operation.
An April 26 article by Sam Barron also made note of Melania’s birthday through Donald Trump himself:
Former President Donald Trump will be spending his wife’s birthday apart from her. Outside a New York City courthouse on Friday, Trump made sure to wish Melania Trump, the former first lady, a happy birthday.
“It would be nice to be with her, but I’m in a courthouse for a rigged trial,” Trump said. “Terrible. We’re doing very well in this rigged trial, and everyone knows it.”
Despite her husband’s criminal trials, Melania, who turns 54 today, is keeping busy. On Saturday, she attended a fundraiser for the Log Cabin Republicans, an advocacy group for LGBTQ+ members of the GOP, her first major political event this year.
While Barron did note that Trump’s trial is related to falsifying business records “allegedly to cover hush-money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels, who claims they had an affair,” he didn’t mention that Trump was married to Melania and had just given birth to his child, Barron, at the time of the alleged affair.
