The Donald Trump sycophancy WorldNetDaily columnists exhibited after the assassination attempt on him unsurprisingly appeared on its “news” pages as well. Joe Kovacs declared in a July 16 article:
Millions of Americans are praising God that President Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt Saturday in Butler, Pennsylvania, during his 2024 campaign for the White House.
But the exact time the former commander in chief was struck by a bullet in his ear has some Christians and conservatives taking note, as they see a connection to one of the most famous verses in the Bible.
The first shot rang out at 6:11 p.m. Eastern time.
And the verse that’s highlighted is Ephesians 6:11, which states: “Put on the full armor of God so that you can stand against the schemes of the devil.” (CSB)
Conservative talk-show host Jack Posobiec is among those who took to X to point out the connection, stating: “The bullets were fired at 6:11pm. Ephesians 6:11.”
[…]The sixth chapter of Ephesians is famous for its armor of God metaphor as believers are told to arm themselves with a belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shield of faith, helmet of salvation, feet strapped with the preparation of the gospel of peace, and the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God.
The verse specifying the “shield of faith” actually says by employing this weapon, “you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one” (Ephesians 6:13 NKJV), with a bullet fired from a wicked person’s gun certainly fitting that description.
Andrew Powell weirdly gushed in a July 16 article that the assassination attempt boosted the economy:
Global stocks, cryptocurrency, and gun manufacturing stocks have begun to climb, following the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump at a Pennsylvania rally on Saturday.
Bloomberg reported Monday the “Trump trade” momentum is picking up speed, as investors are betting on Trump to pull out a win this coming November.
“Trump’s fiscal and trade policies will spur growth and add to inflationary pressures. The yield on 30-year bonds rose to 4.45%, surpassing two-year equivalents for the first time since January, steepening the curve,” Bloomberg reported.
Bloomberg noted that growing political violence could cause concerns around the stability of the U.S., pushing investors to move their stocks into “haven assets” such as gold or real estate.
[…]Economist and Trader Alex Kruger stated on X the Trump Trade is “on its way,” and investors can expect Trump to be “bullish” on oil & gas, steel and coal, as well as onshoring if Trump wins the election.
Trump’s policies on trade tariffs, tax cuts and energy independence for the U.S. are also expected to boost confidence for investors.
Bob Unruh served up similarly weird framing in a July 19 article:
From a coalition of far-left radicals who dreamed up the “Russia, Russia, Russia” conspiracy theory for the 2016 election, then fell for “Trump Impeach 1,” which failed, and the subsequent, and also failed, “Trump Impeach 2,” it was only a matter of time before this appeared.
“We still don’t know for sure whether Donald Trump was hit by a bullet. We know almost nothing,” claimed Joy Reid, of MSNBC.
A report at the Daily Mail noted Reid went to social media “to share another round of conspiracies.”
[…]Reid continued, demanding to know “What is the actual injury to Donald Trump’s ear?”
“Why isn’t the New York Times like aggressively pursuing his medical records? It’s just weird, just a strange thing that I’ve noticed.”
Unruh didn’t explain why Trump’s medical records shouldn’t be released.
Unruh pushed a conspiracy theory of his own in a July 20 article:
A new report at the Gateway Pundit charges that the security for President Donald Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania last weekend, in which a sniper tried to kill him, was a “setup,” since most of the security officers there were replacements and not even Secret Service members.
The report noted Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., has written to Alejandro Mayorkas, Joe Biden’s homeland security secretary, demanding answers about the situation.
Hawley confirmed whistleblowers had notified him “that a majority of the security officials working the rally last weekend were not even Secret Service personnel but were with the Homeland Security Investigations team…”
[…]The Gateway Pundit commented, “It was a setup!”
Unruh didn’t mention that his source, Gateway Pundit, is a highly discredited conspiracy site whose founder, Jim Hoft, was recently busted for filing a sham bankruptcy to avoid being held accountable for his election fraud lies.
WND also republished an article from the right-wing Daily Signal quoting Russia-lover Tucker Carlson saying that “It’s not crazy to think that there was something there; it was an effort to kill Trump, it wasn’t just a lone gunman.”
