Newsmax has wavered on Elon Musk over the past few years — touting his nuisance lawsuit against Media Matters for exposing the extremism on Twitter/X but also offering surprisingly balanced takes on his anti-Semitic controversy. But as Musk became a full-throated Trump support, Newsmax bought into that rah-rah as well. Larry Bell gushed over Musk’s right-wing turn in his Aug. 14 column:
Elon Musk’s live conversation on X, his social media platform, with former President Donald Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, as of this writing has 258.5 million views on the post sharing it and leaves no doubt of shared agreement on a wide range of important policy issues.
Some of Musk’s outspoken viewpoints may seem very surprising for an individual who voted for former President Barack Obama, who hasn’t previously endorsed a political candidate, and who is an iconic entrepreneur legend whose many successful enterprises include electric vehicles, battery and solar technologies, rocketry, and AI development.
[…]Emphasizing the stakes of choosing the right U.S. leadership, Musk warned, “I think people underrate the risk of World War Three. And it’s just that, you know, when looking at the risk of global thermonuclear warfare, it’s game over for humanity.
“And, you know, it’s something that people have, I think, after the end of the Cold War, people have become complacent about.”
Let’s seriously consider that advice in November.
In that spirit, Newsmax dedicated the September issue of its print magazine to Musk, with even more gushing commentary, under the overheated headline “Elon Musk and ‘X Factor’ Can Save America and Trump”:
It was a political bombshell that rocked the Washington bureaucracy.
On July 13, 2024, Elon Musk formally announced Democrats could no longer count on his support.
The reason was clear: Democrats had abandoned the constitutional freedoms Americans cherish.
And just like that, America’s visionary rule-breaker billionaire aligned himself with a force set to abolish the entrenched deep state in D.C.:
Donald Trump.
Musk and Trump share a single quest: to set the nation back on its founding principles — a course back to freedom.
Democrats were left in shock — caught off-guard . . . but it was a long time coming, really.
Pelosi, Schumer, Harris, Biden, and their allies in the Big Media all targeted Musk and his X for destruction.
So far, they have failed . . .
When Musk purchased and commandeered Twitter in 2022, it was a move in the name of free speech.
As word of Musk’s move spread like wildfire, Newsmax hit the ground running — not only to dig deep into Musk’s historic declaration but also to uncover what the partnership means for the country.
Now, in a special report, Newsmax Magazine’s cover story features “The X Factor.”
In short, Musk himself has become the X factor not only for the November election, but also for a new age for conservatives, Christians, Republicans, and all those on the dark side of the Big Media.
Musk’s story is both remarkable and incredible.
Musk has switched sides. He left the dark side for the side of Truth and Faith and Belief.
Today the excitement is palpable.
That’s to be expected when you combine the world’s richest man — who made private space exploration a thing, propelled artificial intelligence to the foreground, and pioneered the tech nexus between brain and computer — with a MAGA firebrand who truly promises to make America great again.
Now, Musk has become a warrior in the battle to defeat the “woke” left — and he’s all in for Donald Trump.
Newsmax’s anonymous copywriter is seriously deluded if he thinks convicted felon and adjudicated rapist Trump is on “the side of Truth and Faith and Belief” and not the “Dark Side.”
Despite all that gushing, though, Newsmax still published the occasional piece critical of him. An Aug. 30 article by Sandy Fitzgerald noted that “Elon Musk has been saying that voting by mail is “insane” and opens the way to election fraud, but his voting records show he has also mailed in his ballots in past elections.” And a Sept. 4 wire article reported that “roughly 150 older workers who were laid off by social media platform X when Elon Musk acquired the company can sue for age discrimination as a class, exposing the company to millions of dollars in potential damages.”
