The Media Research Center spent a good chunk of 2024 raging at Hillary Clinton for having opinions — never mind that she’s not a political candidate and hasn’t been for years. When she combined that with a book tour, the MRC meltdowns were guaranteed to continue. Tim Graham huffed in a Sept. 17 post:
Hillary Clinton has yet another book out, and one of the first publicity stops was a 12-minute softball session on The Rachel Maddow Show on Monday. Late in the interview came a shocking line from Hillary about civilly or criminally charging right-wing “Deplorables” who spread misinformation.
As Hillary ranted about how “dangerous” Trump would be in a return to office, Maddow’s last question (of just three) was about the allegedly nonpartisan Biden Justice Department investigating Americans tangled up with Russian funders.
Maddow suggested: “Speaking of dictators, the Justice Department and the State Department have taken another — a number of actions in the past several weeks striking actions to both call out and indict and take action against the Kremlin for their attempts at interfering in yet another presidential election cycle on Trump’s behalf. The State Department has put out a $10 million reward for information leading to — for information about people who are trying to — about entities trying to illegally interfere in our election.”
The question: “You feel like the U.S. Government is sort of starting to figure out how to do this and taking this seriously enough? Or do you think there’s a far distance to go?”
For these two, the Russian collusion scandal never ended.
Is that like how the Clinton administration never ended for Graham, thus giving him justification to indulge in new spasms of Hillary derangement?
Mark Finkelstein spread his own Hillary derangement in a Sept. 19 post:
Joe and Hillary: a love story. Who knew?
Hillary appeared on today’s Morning Joe to promote her latest book, a fourth memoir. Scarborough began the interview by recounting how, attending his first White House picnic as a congressman, the Hillary he encountered was very different from the one he anticipated.
He and other Republicans had run on the notion that Bill Clinton, Al Gore and Hillary were all Marxists. After the picnic, Joe was invited on a conservative talk radio show and asked to share his impressions of the trio. Whereas he confirmed that Bill and Gore “breathed fire,” he found Hillary to be not a Marxist, but a “Midwest Methodist.” That made the radio hosts’ heads explode, said Scarborough.
Despite saying she was reticent to talk about her faith, Hillary then proceeded to describe how central it is to her being. Scarborough said that only having met her for three minutes at the picnic, “that faith came through even then.”
Weird, we thought the MRC loved it when politicians invoked religion — but apparently only Democrats are not allowed to.
The next day, comedy cop Alex Christy whined that Hillary appeared on late-night TV:
NBC’s Jimmy Fallon welcomed former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to Thursday’s taping of the Tonight Show to promote her new book and essentially rename the show the Kamala Harris Promotion Show.
The usually less political Fallon marveled, “Can we talk about it for a second? Kamala Harris is now the nominee and this is exciting. Were you giving her advice? Were you –”
Clinton interrupted the question to echo Fallon’s sentiment, “Well, first of all, you know, I had to turn the book in. And I turned it in before everything changed. And it was thrilling. President Biden did the right thing. It was an act of patriotism for him to make that decision. And, you know, not a lot of people, and I could name one in particular, would give up power willingly.”
Patriotic or on the losing side of an intraparty power struggle?
[…]The last time Clinton was on the Tonight Show, she told voters who were concerned about Biden to “get over yourself.” No doubt she would say the same thing to people who are less concerned about vibes and more concerned about their livelihoods.
As for Fallon, it appears he is still reeling from the blowback he got for touching Donald Trump’s hair in 2016 because not even he is immune from turning his show into Late Night DNC.
Christy has never complained that Greg Gutfeld’s Fox News show is effectively Late Night RNC.
Meanwhile, Jeffrey Lord pushed the bogus “censorship” narrative in his Sept. 21 column, framing Clinton’s efforts to curb online disinformation as being in favor of “shutting down free speech, enforcing censorship and, yes indeed, arresting free speech dissenters if needed.” Lord didn’t explain why lies and disinformation must be allowed to spread unimpeded.
Graham returned for another fit of Hillary derangement in a Sept. 28 post, raging that an interview she did with PBS’ Amna Nawaz was nowhere near negative enough, which somehow meat that “PBS now stands for Puketastic Broadcasting Service.” He continued to rage that Hillary is allowed to voice opinions:
Nawaz sat back as Hillary described Donald Trump as a menace to democracy – no fears at PBS that they’re encouraging another assassination attempt. Her question was: “Is America ready to elect a woman president today in 2024 in a way that it seems they weren’t back in 2016?” Or is it still a nation of cavemen?
After saying Biden-Harris had so many “accomplishments,” Hillary eventually said “we have to stop what is a very dangerous alternative.”
Then Nawaz tiptoed into the fact that Harris has softening support among “men of color.” Hillary acknowledged a gender gap and added: “I think they have got to understand that one choice will give us options for our future, and one choice literally could end our democracy. And I don’t say that in any way of satisfaction, and I don’t even think I’m exaggerating. Just listen to what he has said.”
Nawaz didn’t even blink at Trump could end democracy. “And you do write about that in detail in your book as well, your concerns for our country, for our democracy, for the world if Donald Trump were to win again. But what if he loses? What are your concerns there? Do you worry that there could be another event like January 6?”
Hillary said no, “because he’s not in the White House.”
It appears Graham has forgotten that Trump incited a riot at the Capitol.
Donald Perkins returned to the “censorship” narrative in his Oct. 7 post:
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, a twice-failed presidential candidate, echoed cynical calls from Democratic politicians for regulation and censorship of social media platforms.
On a Saturday interview with CNN host Michael Smerconish, Clinton railed against the First Amendment, praising New York and California for their harsh crackdown on free speech and calling for similar “national action.” She specifically beseeched, “We need to have guardrails. We need to have regulation.”
Clinton expressed her fear if regulation of speech is not implemented on a national level, lamenting, “If they don’t moderate or monitor content, we lose total control.”
Clinton rebuked Section 230, calling it “overly simple” and went on to demand harsher “judgment“ for content posted on social media platforms. “We should be, in my view, repealing something called Section 230, which gave platforms on the internet immunity.”
Dan Schneider, vice president of Free Speech America at MRC, responded to Clinton’s comments with dismay. “Hillary Clinton certainly understands that the current law is flawed, but her prescription is designed to silence over half of Americans, those of us who disagree with her radical views. Section 230 must be amended, but in a way that prevents the censorship of constitutionally-protected speech.”
Schneider continued, “Clinton’s ultimate problem is her hatred of democratic forms of government. She hates that the hairdresser in Topeka and the pizza delivery guy in Des Moines get as much say as she does about who the next president of the United States will be.”
Neither Schneider nor Perkins explained why lies and misinformation should never be corrected.
Graham returned one more time to whine in his Oct. 25 podcast: “Hillary Clinton appeared on the Kaitlan Collins show on CNN to elaborate on the theme that Donald Trump is a fascist. She implied Trump’s upcoming rally at Madison Square Garden will resemble the Nazis rallying there in 1939. She’s a bitter clinger.” But HIllary never said that — it’s a corruption of something Barack Obama said in 2008. Looks like Graham is trying to dishonestly rewrite history.
