The Media Research Center went into meltdown mode after two of its least favorite people received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Biden. Tim Graham spent his Jan. 3 podcast raging that the medal was presented to Liz Cheney:
Surprisingly, the networks weren’t riveted by President Biden awarding a presidential medal to Liz Cheney (and Democrat Bennie Thompson) for their work on the Pelosi-Picked Panel on January 6.
ABC, CBS, and NBC all seemed to skip this little ceremony with the standing ovations on the evening newscasts. Biden gave the Presidential Citizens Medal to 20 people on Thursday afternoon. It’s not like the Big Three didn’t have the footage. On the PBS News Hour, anchor Amna Nawaz offered about a half a minute on it. She concluded with the note that Trump thinks both Cheney and Thompson should be in jail.
Why? There was no detail. House Republicans have argued the Pelosi-Picked Panel did not preserve all the evidence and video depositions collected, especially in the area of security around the Capitol. They’ve criticized Cheney for having contact with witness Cassidy Hutchinshon [sic] without her lawyer’s knowledge. That’s witness tampering. But the liberal media don’t care what House Republicans find. They’re sticking with Pelosi’s storyline.
Graham offered no reason why the partisan Republican shills whose main duty is to protect Trump should be trusted over people who actually looked at the evidence. (Graham is obsessed with the “Pelosi-Picked Panel” alliteration.) And, no, Cheney did engage in “witness tampering” when she helped Cassidy Hutchinson (whose name Graham misspells) — it was her previous Trump-paid lawyer who did that by to instructing her to conveniently forget certain details about her story in her testimony to that “Pelosi-Picked Panel.” Cheney helped Hutchinson find a new lawyer who would help her tell the truth.
The MRC’s chief George Soros-hater, Joseph Vazquez, raged about Soros receiving the medal in a Jan. 4 post maliciously calling the honor a “middle finger” to America:
President Joe Biden decided to use his waning days as America’s leader to flip the middle finger to citizens by honoring one of the most notorious anti-American billionaires in global politics.
Biden named George Soros, the financier of some of the most insidious efforts to undermine American exceptionalism, the rule of law and America’s influence around the world over his decades-long career, a recipient of the prestigious Presidential Medal of Freedom. Soros’s Open Society Foundations, of which he pumped an ungodly $32 billion into to further his dark “open society” worldview globally, celebrated in an X post, while saying the quiet part out loud that OSF’s reach under his leadership had expanded to “more than 100 countries.”
George’s radicalized son Alex, the heir to his empire, received the award on the elder Soros’s behalf. Honoring Soros as some sort of American hero in light of the anti-American, anti-Israel and pro-Hamas dreck mill his machine has backed and oiled with his enormous fortune is about as oxymoronic as it can get. X owner Elon Musk called the development a “travesty.”
Vazquez didn’t specifically identify what, exactly, Soros has purportedly done that makes him “anti-American.” Instead, he rehashed his litany of partisan attacks against Soros, including the wildly hyperbolic (and dishonest) claim that he “directs and controls the radical soft-on-crime prosecutors tearing apart the justice system across the country,” and that “at least 30 percent of the U.S. population were living under the boot of the Soros prosecutors” without explains what, exactly, that “boot” is supposed to be. Also, his portrayal of Soros as pro-Hamas is an utterly dishonest smear.
The hypocrisy continued as he claimed “Soros has actively given tens of millions to groups who exerted enormous pressure on Big Tech platforms to censor political viewpoints that run counter to his own” — while staying silent on how Elon Musk has taken control the former Twitter to help spread right-wing chaos worldwide. Vazquez’s rants got even more unhinged:
Soros has also spent billions gaining control over global academia. In 2021, MRC Business revealed how he seeded $1 billion alone into his global Open Society University Network, which vacuumed up multiple universities from the United States and abroad under its umbrella to indoctrinate the next generation with his radical views. The result is an Orwellian education juggernaut unlike anything the world has ever seen. Soros said he considers it “to be the most important and enduring project of my life.” Soros plans to have his network renamed the Soros University Network after his death.
Vazquez closed with one more rant:
Soros brazenly told The New York Times in 2019 he was “actively engaged” in “bending” the arc of history “in the right direction,” which is a euphemism for the chaos he inflicted on global politics, American culture and society with his billions. And now he was just awarded the highest civilian honor from Biden for doing it.
C’est la vie.
Meanwhile, Vazquez will never denounce Musk for engaging in the same kind of philanthropy that Soros does because Musk serves the same ideological master Vazquez and the MRC do. C’est la vie, indeed.
