MRC Sics FCC On Radio Station Partially Owned By Soros For Reporting On ICE Raid

Posted on March 23, 2025

The Media Research Center found something new to hate George Soros over. Joseph Vazquez raged in a Jan. 27 post headlined “BETRAYAL”:

This weekend, a radio station owned by the George Soros-controlled Audacy outrageously identified the vehicle whereabouts of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents operating in San Jose, California, which is known for violent gang activity.

KCBS 740 AM – not to be confused with the Los Angeles CBS affiliate – elevated the insane unmasking of ICE agents from the leftist Rapid Response Network, which fights against deportation initiatives during the January 26 edition of KCBS Radio Weekend News.

But to make matters worse, anchor Bret Burkhart gave exact descriptions of the vehicles the ICE agents were reportedly using, including specific locations. NewsNation confirmed January 27 that the agents were conducting an operation in the area around that time, meaning their cover was potentially blown.

Post Millennial senior editor Andy Ngo noted the agents were allegedly working “undercover.” KCBS, in effect, “put the law enforcement officers at serious risk while an operation was ongoing targeting violent, criminal foreign nationals,” Ngo concluded.

Vazquez offered no evidence whatsoever that Soros was personally involved in that coverage decision, or that any part of the investigation was actually compromised because of it — or even that it’s illegal to report on police activity apparently happening in public. Further, if the police vehicles were apparently so easily identified that a radio reporter could pick them out, they couldn’t have been that much “undercover,” could they? Instead, Vazquez whined that “Apparently, the Soros ethos also includes using the media within its control to betray law enforcement agents trying to undo the illegal immigration crisis brought on by the Biden administration, which ironically gifted Soros with the Presidential Medal Freedom just before leaving office.”

If you’ll recall, the MRC had a massive fit over Soros interests being allowed to purchase a 40 percent stake in Audacy without a national security review, even though he’s a naturalized U.S. citizen. When the Trump administration launched a partisan investigation of the alleged incident, Vazquez — who’s now apparently taking credit for getting the ball rolling — wrote in a Feb. 5 post headlined “IT’S GO TIME!”:

Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr is investigating a radio station owned by the George Soros-controlled Audacy. The development comes as a response to an MRC bombshell which revealed that the radio station unmasked undercover law enforcement agents conducting operations in the gang activity-plagued San Jose, California.

MRC Business released a report January 27 documenting how KCBS 740 AM elevated the unmasking of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents from the leftist Rapid Response Network, which fights against deportations during the January 26 edition of KCBS Radio Weekend News. Anchor Bret Burkhart shockingly gave exact descriptions of the unmarked vehicles the undercover ICE agents were reportedly using, including specific locations.

NewsNation confirmed January 27 that the agents were conducting an operation in the area around that time, meaning their cover was potentially blown and they were placed in significant danger.

Again, Vazquez did not explain how a 40 percent ownership stake supposedly gave Soros full control over all news coverage on every Audacy station (or even this particular one).

Tim Graham piled on in his podcast the same day:

Brian Flood at Fox News reports FCC Chairman Brendan Carr is going to look into San Jose radio station KCBS unmasking undercover law-enforcement agents conducting operations in a town plagued with gang activity. MRC Business editor Joseph Vazquez had the story for NewsBusters, and he joins the show to discuss.

In 2024, George Soros entered the picture, purchasing $400 million of radio giant Audacy’s debt, giving him a 40 percent share in the company. KCBS is an Audacy station, one of 225 stations in 46 markets, 16 of which have a massive 50,000-watt range. Biden’s FCC rushed through this sale, but it’s Trump’s FCC that the media will present as the ideological one, not the Soros enablers.

It’s a little shocking that the liberals who crow about Trump being a “convicted felon” look like eager advocates to keep convicted felons from being deported, a mission that a vast majority of Americans support. Murderers, rapists, human traffickers, drug dealers — media outlets seem to be eager to defend their “rights” to stay and be a menace to society.

Graham offered no evidence that every single illegal immigrant — let alone the ones allegedly listening to the station at the time — are “convicted felons … murderers, rapists, human traffickers, drug dealers.” He also didn’t broach the idea that Trump and the FCC have seemingly started this investigation to harass and punish Soros (with a little help from the MRC).
