The Media Research Center spent 2024 raging against DEI initiatives, then kicked off this year peddling the bogus narrative that DEI (and gay people) were to blame for a plane crash and for wildfires in California. With a new administration that echoes its anti-DEI rage, the MRC was very happy. Curtis Houck lashed out at a critic of Trump’s anti-DEI mania in a Jan. 20 post:
In the nearly three hours of pre-inauguration coverage after Today, NBC pitched a few small fits over their party falling out of power, ranging from it being divisive that President Trump believes in there being only two genders (male and female) and opposing Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI), and comparing Trump’s definition of “fairness” to that of a “toddler.”
NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt cued up Meet the Press moderator Kristen Welker to explain one of Trump’s expected executive order “regarding diversity initiatives.”
The MRC’s rage at DEI and its supporters continued:

The MRC also cheered lawfare against those who don’t like white heterosexual employees enough. Tim Graham huffed in a Feb. 13 post:
Trump-appointed Federal Communications Chair Brendan Carr is taking on Comcast and NBCUniversal on DEI. They might be the most aggressive DEI pusher among national media companies. It’s not just a bias in their hiring, but in their “news” product, like their supportive interviews with the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD).
In his letter to Comcast chairman Brian Roberts, Carr noted that Comcast promotes DEI as “a core value of our business” online and public reports state that the company has an entire “DEI infrastructure” that includes annual “DEI day[s],” “DEI training for company leaders” and other similar initiatives.
Last year, Comcast touted a $1 billion commitment to a “Digital Equity Local Voices Lab” that “supports coverage of Black and LGBTQ+ topics in the media and supports emerging journalists with a passion for reporting on issues of importance to these communities.”
[…]Excuse me, but DEI itself is a partisan culture war. And Tom Wheeler drove the “net neutrality” train for his master, Barack Obama.
We all know there is no “diversity” of ideology allowing conservative voices, no “inclusion” for people who oppose DEI ideology.
We all know there is no diversity of ideology or inclusion of those with differing views at the MRC, as its Heathering crusades amply demonstrate. And that’s what Graham is doing here — making sure that people who do not fall in line with Trump’s anti-DEI ideology are treated as being not just wrong but evil.
