MRC Continued To Whine Non-Right-Wing Media Deviating From Trump Shutdown Talking Points

Posted on October 22, 2025

As the government shutdown kicked in on Oct. 1, the Media Research Center continued to complain that non-right-wing media outlets weren’t parroting right-wing narratives about it. Alex Christy groused:

It was a tale of two interviews for CNN’s Dana Bash on Wednesday’s Inside Politics as she sat down with Speaker Mike Johnson and left-wing activist and actress Jane Fonda. During her conversation with Johnson, Bash recited Democratic talking points on the government shutdown and wondered if there is “something to that.” Meanwhile, she laughed it up with Fonda and suggested that she had the credibility to say that President Trump actually does pose a grave threat to the First Amendment.

During the Johnson interview, Bash basically endorsed the Democratic position:

Nicholas Fondacaro whined in his daily hate-watch of “The View”:

With government shutdown going into effect overnight, the liberal ladies of ABC News’s The View were out in force Wednesday trying to wash the hands of Congressional Democrats of their major role in what was unfurling. Moderator Whoopi Goldberg literally pulled out a card with Democratic Party talking points denying the fact they wanted to fund free healthcare for illegal immigrants, something the Republicans did not want to go along with.

To prove which party they were aligned with, The View led the show with soundbites of Clinton administration hack George Stephanopoulos pushing the Democratic Party’s lies as fact as his battled with Speaker Mike Jonson (R-LA), and Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) pushing the same talking points[.] […]

Following the soundbites, Goldberg declared “we want to just say it one more time” as she pulled out a literal card with the Democratic Party’s talking points and read from it:

As if Fondacaro and the rest of the MRC are not parroting Republican talking points on the shutdown. Indeed, his colleague Craig Bannister did exactly that, contributing a couple right-wing-narrative-pushing pieces from his CNSNews.com propaganda ghetto:

  • Rep. Waters Scolds Reporter for Asking About Healthcare for Illegal Aliens: ‘Stop It! Quit It!’
  • Dem Rep.: Not All Additional Healthcare ‘Funding We’re Talking About Is for American Citizens’

Curtis Houck whined:

For day one of the government shutdown, ABC’s Good Morning America showed its rancorous liberal bias with back-to-back interviews Wednesday of House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY). Co-host George Stephanopoulos fully embraced his background as a one-time Clinton official by berating and screeching at Johnson while providing Jeffries a rhetorically warm bed to lay his head at night.

Stephanopoulos had the nerves to come out of the block with this question to Johnson accepting the left’s talking points as fact:

[…]

After the ABC tool stated Johnson was wrong four times, Johnson actually had the time to explain Democrats want to “unwind the changes that the Republicans put into the Big Beautiful Bill” meant to bolster “Medicaid for the people who are actually eligible to receive it.”

Houck is never going to call his co-worker Bannister a “tool” even though he is clearly much more of one than Stephanopoulos is — or admit (publicly, anyway) that his MRC is nothing but a Trump Regime Media operation.
