MRC’s Chief Soros-Hater Cheers For Lawfare Against Soros

Posted on March 15, 2026

The Media Research Center continued its dirty war on George Soros with an Oct. 17 post by its favorite Soros-hater, Joseph Vazquez:

It appears that President Donald Trump wasn’t bluffing at all when he stated that a potential criminal investigation should be launched against leftist “Connoisseur of Chaos” George Soros. This weekend is another string of “No Kings” protests organized by the leftist group Indivisible, which could spur chaotic activity. Soros, through the Open Society Action Fund, issued a two-year grant of $3 million in 2023 to Indivisible.

The Wall Street Journal reported October 15 that the Trump administration is “preparing sweeping changes at the Internal Revenue Service that would allow the agency to pursue criminal inquiries of left-leaning groups more easily.” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s adviser Gary Shapley — who was a whistleblower on the Hunter Biden case — has put together a list of groups that the IRS criminal-investigative unit will be looking into that are “creating anarchy in Democratic-led cities,” prominent among them being Soros and his affiliated philanthropies.

This development comes on the heels of the Justice Department directing prosecutors to start drafting plans to investigate the leftist billionaire. An explosive Capital Research Center report, which served as the pretext for main Justice’s interest in Soros, revealed that he funneled at least $80 million into organizations tied to domestic and foreign terrorism.

This specific targeting of Soros is lawfare, of course, but Vazquez would never call it that. And we’ve documented how that “explosive” CRC report is filled with dubious accusations seemingly designed to support a Trump administration investigation of Soros. Still, Vazquez remained a cheerleader for Trump’s lawfare:

Trump has apparently had enough of the political chaos that Soros has kept ablaze with his ungodly fortune. On August 26, Trump publicly lambasted the leftist billionaire on Truth Social and called for criminal racketeering charges to be pursued against his empire: “George Soros, and his wonderful Radical Left son [Alex], should be charged with RICO because of their support of Violent Protests, and much more, all throughout the United States of America.”

Americans should understand that Soros was never a passive player. He thrives off of political chaos, and he’s willing to inflame the masses in order to achieve his dark open society ends. At the very least, an investigation should have been conducted into his antics years ago. Trump is now doing what his predecessors and other Washington politicos were either too corrupt — or too intimidated — to do in finally calling the wretched Soros empire to account.

Vazquez had a Mamdani meltdown in a Nov. 1 post:

CNN Chief International Anchor Christiane Amanpour just spilled the beans by letting her viewers know that the Soros machine is even more closely connected to the NYC mayoral race than previously thought.

Amanpour brought on George Soros’s notorious henchman, Patrick Gaspard, to talk up communist Zohran Mamdani’s campaign to lead New York City. Gaspard, who served as president of Soros’s Open Society Foundations between 2017 and 2020 and subsequently lead the heavily Soros-funded extremist Center for American Progress until February 2025, was dubbed by Amanpour to be a “close confidant” of Mamdani’s, whose Marxist agenda is already threatening to upend the city’s economy.

[…]

Given the close proximity of a key player in the Soros machine to Mamdani, one has to question where Mamdani is getting most of his political cues from, including his hatred of Israel.

Vazquez made no effort to back up his more inflammatory claims, such as that CAP is “extremist” — then again, any organization that’s not as right-wing as the MRC must seem “extremist” to a right-wing activist like Vazquez. He continued to rant:

New Yorkers everywhere should be wary that the empire of the most notorious leftist billionaire in American politics is once again trying to sway elections that favor his dark “open society” worldview.

Vazquez did not back up his assertion that Soros’ worldview is “dark,” or why it’s inherently “dark” to support an open society.

Tim Graham stuck to the corporate narrative for his Nov. 4 podcast:

Bongino Report content manager Matt Palumbo is out with another book on the Soros family philanthropic empire. This one’s titled The Heir: Inside the (Not So) Secret Network of Alex Soros. Our Soros expert, MRC Business editor Joseph Vazquez, helps explain what Alex has been doing to make a mockery of their so-called “Open Society” foundations.

We’ve recently noted that the Soros family has backed a series of organizations that conduct violent protests and vandalism, like the Sunrise Movement. but then pretend they’re not funding chaos. As Palumbo puts it, “You can’t give money to an arsonist and then feign surprise when he uses it to fund fires.”

It’s beyond puzzling that someone would say they’re backing an “Open Society” while they are supporting climate-panicked crackdown on our energy use in our cars and homes, or when you’re backing “pro-Palestinian” organizations that effectively support Hamas and Islamists. The Soros family has backed Muslim political action committees that helped the ascent of radical leftist Zohran Mamdani, who could be the next mayor of New York City.

We’re pretty sure that Graham didn’t mention that Palumbo has served as a right-wing propagandist for criminal right-wing billionaire Guo Wengui.

Vazquez returned to rant in a Dec. 3 post:

Apparently, even when leftist media outlets choose to expose the massive political machine of George Soros, they still try to make America’s most notorious billionaire look like a victim of conspiracy theories. Enter The Washington Post.

Post reporter Beth Reinhard published a story on how Soros “changed criminal justice in America.” It effectively amounted to a stunning exposé on Soros’s nefarious overhauling of America’s criminal justice system into a soft-on-crime monstrosity in line with his dark “open society” worldview.

Reinhard first soft-balled how Soros “set out a decade ago to elect district attorneys who would steer drug offenders and juveniles toward rehabilitation instead of prison, oppose cash bail for minor crimes, and crack down on police misconduct.” Then, after detailing Soros’s involvement in a high profile 2022 Maine DA race, Reinhard cut out all the fluff: “The district attorney race in Cumberland County, Maine, is among dozens around the country that Soros has bent to advance his criminal justice agenda, showing how a single billionaire can change the course of public policy.”

Sounds like The Post finally caught wind of what MRC Business had been reporting about Soros and his twisting of American criminal justice for years.

Vazquez didn’t explain how how steering drug offenders to rehabilitation instead of prison makes Soros and the attorneys he funds as somehow evil. He went on to proudly declare that “The basis for the Trump Justice Department’s investigation into Soros stemmed from a groundbreaking Capital Research Center report revealing that he funneled at least $80 million into organizations tied to domestic and foreign terrorism” without explaining how that CRC report is fatally flawed. And again, Vazquez refuses to explain how an open society “worldview” is “dark.”
