Mamdani Meltdown Watch, WorldNetDaily Edition

Ah, the warm embrace of collectivism. It’s like having the life squeezed out of you by a giant boa constrictor. As Venezuela struggles to get free, the snake is wrapping itself around New York.

New York City Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani and deposed Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro are now neighbors. It’s not that far from the Metropolitan Detention Center, where Maduro is being held, to Gracie Mansion, his honor’s digs. The mayor should drop in on the once-powerful drug lord for some pointers on how to ruin the lives of the people you control.

In his inaugural address, Mamdani set forth an ambitious program for turning the Big Apple into a squalid, Third World state, saying he will “replace the frigidity of individualism with the warmth of collectivism.”

The “frigidity of individualism” is what transformed the United States from a colonial backwater into the most powerful nation on earth in 250 years. The “warmth of collectivism” created a sea of blood in the 20th century, with tributaries flowing from Soviet gulags, Cambodian Killing Fields and Mao Zedong’s Cultural Revolution.

This is an agenda worthy of a 34-year-old man-child from a comfortable professional family who never had a real job.

Mamdani wants to make the five boroughs look like Venezuela at low tide. After 27 years of red-hot socialism, the South American state has bread lines, rolling blackouts, hyperinflation and police state repression.

The Declaration of Independence states that, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

In Mr. Mamdani’s Jan. 1 inaugural address, New York’s first Islamist/socialist mayor phrased his aims thusly: “We will replace the frigidity of rugged individualism with the warmth of collectivism.”

Given that people actually voted for this in the nation’s most important financial and cultural city, it won’t hurt to issue a reminder about the horrors inflicted on humanity since this poisonous, satanic doctrine of collectivism was unleashed.

On Jan. 2, New York Democrat Gov. Kathy Hochul ordered 16 New York state landmarks to be lit up in green, a sacred color to Muslims. Militants everywhere must have cheered. She may as well have hung a “kick me” sign on Freedom Tower.

But then, history is not the Democrats’ strong suit. Rewriting it is more their style.

When he was sworn in on two family Qurans, one reportedly dating to the Ottoman Empire, Mr. Mamdani said, “Muslims have been part of New York for centuries.”

Sure, and they invented the pastrami sandwich.
