WorldNetDaily’s continuing efforts to whitewash the Capitol riot continued well after President Trump’s pardon of the rioters. Bob Unruh went on a tirade in a July 25 article:
A plan is being developed that would set up a new congressional panel to investigate the disturbance, a protest-turned-riot, at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.
That’s already been “investigated” by a committee, but it was partisan entirely. Then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi refused to let the GOP nominate any members, instead choosing “Republicans” who were in staunch opposition to President Donald Trump.
Evidence was limited, the committee hired professionals to create made-for-broadcast episodes with only some parts of the truth, to be broadcast to Americans.
While members were honored by Joe Biden for their work to create a storyline that tarnished Trump, one member, then-Rep. Liz Cheney, was accused of tampering with at least one witness. And the committee was caught using some clearly unsupported “evidence,” when one person claimed Trump had tried to commandeer the Beast, the presidential limousine.
The driver actually refuted the wild claim, stating, “I did not see him reach. He never grabbed the steering wheel. I didn’t see him, you know, lunge to try to get into the front seat at all.”
Unruh is making a thinly veiled attack on Cassidy Hutchinson. As we’ve pointed out, the Secret Service agents whom Hutchinson said told her of Trump’s actions — who have been identified as Trump loyalists and yes men — declared they would testify to the January 6 Committee that Hutchinson was lying, but then quickly lawyered up and refused to testify; when one finally did testify, he conveniently couldn’t remember key details.\Still, Unruh continue to rant:
In fact, classified documents that now have been released show what apparently was a grand conspiracy involving Barack Obama and number of other top Democrats to fabricate allegations against Trump to undermine the agenda of the duly elected president.
Turley noted Cheney’s comments “left the impression of actors who are refusing to leave the stage long after the audience departed.”
Pelosi’s committee ignored the fact that Trump told his supporters to protest “peacefully” and its conclusions were described by many as “meaningless.”
The committee further showed its partisanship by refusing even to hear evidence of Pelosi’s own culpability, which she later admitted in a recorded video.
We’ve documented how WND distorted Pelosi’s words and pushed the false claim that Pelosi was in charge of security at the Capitol.
Unruh whined further in a Sept. 14 article:
It seems there may have been an active agenda under the Joe Biden administration to accelerate prosecutions over the Jan. 6, 2021, protest-turned-riot at the Capitol after President Donald Trump was elected in 2024 and it was clear Biden soon would be out of power.
It was under the Biden administration that judges uniformly held people suspected of offenses like trespassing for months, even years, in prison.
The cases were brought up as if there were serious charges like treason or insurrection involved, when there weren’t.
Apparently, Unruh doesn’t consider things assaulting police officers to be “serious.” Unruh whined further:
It is Judicial Watch, a government watchdog organization, that has confirmed it has filed a Freedom of Information lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Justice for records on accelerated Jan. 6 prosecutions.
Those happened after Trump’s election last November.
“The Biden administration, anticipating President-elect Donald Trump’s promise to issue pardons for January 6, 2021, defendants, is believed to have accelerated prosecutions in the final months of Biden’s term,” Judicial Watch reported.
Neither Unruh nor Judicial Watch offered any evidence that the prosecutions were illlegal or that the suspects were actually innocent of the charges they faced.
Unruh continued his conspiracy-mongering in a Feb. 25 article:
Evidence from files in her case show the campaign orchestrated by Fulton County, Georgia, prosecutor Fani Willis against President Donald Trump and others was coordinated with the Joe Biden White House and the Democrats who were running the committee to “investigate” the Jan. 6, 2021, protest and riot at the U.S. Capitol.
Willis assembled a wild series of claims against Trump and others claiming they were engaged in an organized crime scheme by questioning the processes and results of the 2020 president election.
Her own conflicts of interest prompted her case to be thrown out and now, even though she had no compunction about filing charges that required the defendants to spend lots of money hiring defense counsel, she’s fighting the requirements of a state law that she reimburse those she falsely accused for their millions of dollars in legal fees.
[…]A major gift from Biden to Willis was that officials in the administration waived executive privilege for a former president, so that his staff members could not decline to testify.
Interesting, the privilege they waived for Trump was the same as what they used to benefit themselves in the investigation of the botched “Fast and Furious” gunrunning scheme.
“It has been known for years that Biden waived Trump’s executive privilege for the congressional inquiry and the federal prosecution of Trump led by Special Counsel Jack Smith, but the Georgia memo appears to be the first document to show how Biden extended that waiver in coordination with a prosecution at the state level,” the report said.
Willis ultimately made the wild claim that, “Trump and the other defendants charged in this indictment refused to accept that Trump lost, and they knowingly and willfully joined a conspiracy to unlawfully change the outcome of the election in favor of Trump.”
Unruh ofered no evidence whatsoever that Trump actually won the 2020 election. And, true to his highly biased history, he made no attempt to seek out Willis to respond to his attacks. Also note that Unruh cannot bring himself to admit that Biden was, in fact, president.
