The Media Research Center’s obsession with mass shooters who turn out to be transgender continued in a Feb. 11 post by Tim Graham:
The horrific mass shooting as a high school in Canada wasn’t just embarrassing to the Canadian establishment because of their passionate advocacy of gun control, especially so-called “assault weapons.” It’s another mass shooting committed by a transgender individual, and they just don’t know how to handle it. They ended up sounding more sensitive to the T-Police than to the crime victims.
One AP story just stuck vaguely to “her” pronouns:
Graham went on to huff that “On X, Libs of TikTok underlined this truth-defiance mode happened all over the internet,” and included a Libs of TikTok post asserting that the shooter was “a MAN pretending to be a woman.” It was not explained how Chaya Raichik and Co. know this for certain — we don’t know of any transgender person who was just “pretending.”
Jorge Bonilla gad a similar meltdown in a March 13 article:
ABC News, already the worst among the Elitist Media broadcast network evening newscasts, may have plumbed a new low. A story subject’s murderous, transgender father was hit with Disney pixie dust and spun into the more anodyne “former family member.”
[…]ABC mars this beautiful story by trying to sweep the kid’s father under the rug. “Former family member” is a bizarre sophistry because it leads one to question, exactly, when he became “former.” Was it when he decided to pretend to be a woman, or when he killed himself after eliminating other members of his family?
Actually, the shooter became a “former family member” when her wife filed for divorce five years earlier, citing “narcissistic + personality disorder traits,” after which she underwent gender reassignment surgery. The shooter later posted pro-Nazi content on Twitter. That tells us her being transgender is probably the least of the problems Bonilla is worried about.
In between, Craig Bannister served up a Feb. 27 CNSNews.com propaganda piece:
Contrary to claims by leftist “fact checkers,” such as Politfact.com, transgender individuals actually commit a disproportionately high share of mass public and active shooting attacks, new analysis by the Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC) reveals.
Regardless of the data analyzed or estimates of transgender population used, transgenders commit a far higher proportion of mass public and active shootings than their share of the U.S. population would suggest, the CPRC study finds.
In 2024, for example, their share of mass public and active shooting attacks was at least 12 times – and possibly more than 16 times – their share of the population.
Attempts by groups like Politifact to use data to dismiss concerns of transgender violence are based on faulty analysis – because they don’t factor in transgender individuals’ share of the violent attacks in the U.S. relative to their share of the population – CPRC President John Lott explains:
Bannister didn’t explain that CPRC is a right-wing group or that Lott is notorious for being highly discredited on his key issue, and his assertion that more guns equal less crime has been widely debunked. One of his assistants is Tim Groseclose, a right-winger whose book on media bias was loved by the MRC but built on shaky methodology.
