WorldNetDaily’s Bob Unruh continued his alternative version of the saga of Tina Peters continued in a May 12 article that featured a former hyperbolic WND columnist:
If President Donald Trump can invade Venezuela and grab Nicolas Maduro, who then was dictator there, and can invade Iran to battle Islamic mullahs, he also can invade Colorado and give freedom to that leftist state’s “political prisoner Tina Peters.”
That’s the verdict from columnist Wayne Allyn Root.
He jumps directly into the developing catastrophe wrought by that state’s Democrat homosexual Gov. Jared Polis, its Democrat-dictated state legislature, its Democrat-majority state Supreme Court.
“President Trump, freeing Tina Peters has to be a priority in your life right now. We know you have a lot to deal with right now- the war in Iran…the war in Democrat-run cities…the war with communist insurrection judges…the war with Congress to pass the SAVE America Act, etc. The list is long and endless. We appreciate everything you’re facing and doing. But Tina Peters is in the most outrageous, shocking, disgusting, and disgraceful situation in America today. Maybe EVER. She is a Soviet-style political prisoner inside America.
“Colorado Democrats have destroyed her life, taken away her freedom, and they are clearly hoping and rooting for her to die in prison. Notice I didn’t say ‘praying’ because we know they are all Godless communists, so they don’t pray. Tina was a Mesa County, Colorado clerk. She had no criminal history. She had never even gotten a parking ticket in her life.”
Root explains what she did was “her legal job and finding disturbing evidence of Colorado Democrats rigging, cheating, and stealing the 2020 election through voting machine fraud, and saving the evidence, and trying to expose it, she was treated like a terrorist.”
In fact, there was no evidence of election fraud in her county in 2020, something Unruh refused to admit. Unruh and Root then turned up the pathos:
Root pleaded, “Forget that Tina was and is innocent of any crime… Forget that she was preserving election records in her role as a County Clerk- exactly as the law demands… Forget that she was persecuted like a terrorist because Democrats were so scared of the hard evidence she had found. All anyone needs to know is that Tina was a first-time offender, 70-years old, a Gold Star mom (her Navy Seal son died for his country), in ill health, and never even had a parking ticket in her life. The charges against her did not involve violence.”
He continued, “She is sick. Her cancer may have returned. Gang members have beaten her. She has spent most of her time in isolation (i.e., solitary confinement)- officials claim to keep her safe. She sits 23 hours a day in a cramped cell that used to be a closet holding a washing machine.”
Unruh then reiterated Root’s threat:
“This is all happening in America, not the Soviet Union, or Venezuela, or Iran. President Trump, if you could send the U.S. military to invade a foreign country, Venezuela, to grab dictator and Drug Lord Nicolas Maduro, and to Iran to replace their regime leaders, why not send the military to Colorado to grab 70-year-old Gold Star mom Tina Peters and bring her to safety?
“This poor woman has been tortured. She has suffered enough- and she sacrificed her freedom and perhaps her life, to prove Democrats stole the 2020 election from you and many other Republicans,” wrote Root.
As is typical, Unruh did not allow anyone to rebut Root.
When Peters’ sentence was ultimately commuted, Unruh wrote in a May 15 article:
An announcement from Colorado Gov. Jared Polis, a proudly out multi-millionaire homosexual leftist who has been running the state for nearly two terms, confirms he’s bending to the will of President Donald Trump and granting clemency to Tina Peters.
She’s the former Mesa County clerk who, in pursuit of documenting 2020 election records, provided access to the election system to an outsider, and was jailed on multiple criminal counts by Democrats in the Democrat-run government in Colorado.
Polis lashed out at her beliefs, but pointed out that when the trial court judge did the same, it was an improper influence on her sentence, which was nine years before an appellate level panel threw it out weeks ago.
She’s remained in jail despite that improper sentence, but now it appears Polis’ “reduction” in her sentence to 4.5 years means she could be released within weeks.
As we’ve pointed out, Peters was not trying to preserve election records but, rather, try to gain fame in right-wing circles by uncovering “election fraud” that didn’t exist. He also didn’t explain why he insists on describing Polis as a “a proudly out multi-millionaire homosexual leftist” when it has absolutely nothing to do with Peters. Unruh continued:
Peters has submitted, and made available online, a pro forma letter in which she said she was “sorry” for “mistakes” during that election, “when allowing a person to gain access to county voting equipment.”
She added, “Upon release, I plan to do my best through legal means to support election integrity and based on my own personal experiences to elevate the cause of prison reform to help ensure the detention system is more fair and equitable for people of all ages.”
The fact that Unruh put “sorry” and “mistakes” in scare quotes suggest he doesn’t think Peters committed any crime or that she should be sorry about it. He then complained that Colorado Sen. Michael Bennet opposed the commutation.
Unruh didn’t mention that Peters was caught on camera earlier this year getting involved in a prison fight, or that she ranted after her release her baseless belief that Democrats will cheat in the midterm elections.
