WND Still Obsessed With Seth Rich Conspiracy Theories

Posted on October 5, 2026

WorldNetDaily’s obsession with the death of Seth Rich continues. It called on the discredited Gateway Pundit to rant about it in a September 2025 article:

Ty Clevenger fired off a blistering letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel back in April, accusing the FBI of flagrantly concealing critical records about the late DNC staffer Seth Rich and the now-discredited Russia collusion narrative.

In February 2024, Clevenger demanded that the FBI hand over the Seth Rich documents that they continue to conceal from the public.

The FBI’s refusal follows a pattern of obfuscation. For years, the agency denied even possessing Seth Rich’s laptop—until Clevenger’s legal efforts forced the FBI to admit they had it all along. Yet, the agency still refuses to disclose any metadata from Seth Rich’s electronic devices.

The letter obtained by The Gateway Pundit implicated former DOJ and intelligence officials in what Clevenger describes as a systemic cover-up designed to protect the Obama-era deep state operatives and their media allies.

As we’ve documented, Clevenger is a discredited lawyer who is also a Seth Rich conspiracy dead-ender. He’s probably best known for representing right-wing operative Ed Butowsky in suing various people and media outlets for purported defamation — nearly all of which have been either withdrawn or thrown out of court, in no small part because Butowsky lied during his lawsuit against one outlet; Butowsky has also been made to apologize to Rich’s brother for false statements he made about him. Needless to say, the Gateway Pundit censored any reaction to Clevenger’s rantings — can’t have his conspiracy be tainted by facts, after all.

Joe Kovacs uncritically touted Clevenger again in a July 7 article:

An attorney probing the mysterious murder of Seth Rich, the Democratic National Committee worker shot and killed as he walked to his Washington, D.C., home in 2016, is revealing an astounding development in the case.

On Monday evening, Ty Clevenger posted on X that hundreds of pages of documents related to Rich were stashed in a SCIF, or Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility for handling U.S. national secrets, that were mixed with burn bags “designated for destruction.”

Kovacs was silent on Clevenger’s lack of credibility. Instead, he quoted another Seth Rich dead-ender: “WorldNetDaily columnist Jack Cashill has documented that it just may have been Rich who downloaded DNC details to give to Julian Assange to post at WikiLeaks on the internet at the time.” In fact, the Mueller report found that the DNC emails were stolen by Russia.
