MRC’s Christy Lashes Out At Another Kimmel Guest Host

Posted on October 9, 2026

The Media Research Center has long hated Anthony Anderson, started when he starred on the sitcom “black-ish,” which failed to discuss racial issues through the right-wing lens it demands. A sampling of that hate:

  • ABC’s ‘Black-ish’ Promotes ‘Burn It Down’ Sign in Black Lives Matter Storyline
  • ABC’s ‘Black-ish’ Attempts to ‘Build a Better White Man,’ Finds It Impossible
  • ABC’s ‘Black-ish’ Fangirls Hard Over Michelle Obama
  • ABC’s ‘black-ish’: American Dream ‘Can Be Yours…Unless You’re Black’
  • ABC’s ‘black-ish’ Encourages POC to Manipulate ‘White Guilt’ to Get Ahead
  • ABC’s ‘black-ish’ Claims Predominantly White Private Schools Are Racist
  • Done-ish! ABC’s Racist Sitcom ‘Black-ish’ Promotes Segregation in Series Finale

(The MRC also lashed out at show’s spinoff, “grown-ish.”)

When Anderson served has a summer guest host for Jimmy Kimmel, the MRC’s resident comedy cop, Alex Christy, was ready to lash out. He melted down over Anderson during his 2024 stint:

  • Anderson Smears Tim Scott As ‘Uncle Tim or Tom’ After RNC Speech
  • Anderson Slimes GOP As ‘Wu Klux Klan’ And “Fascists’
  • Comedy Shows Smear Republicans As Racist Cultists During RNC

Christy returned to complain during Anderson’s 2025 Kimmel stint:

  • Abrams and Anderson Suggest Trump Will Cancel Elections Like Putin
  • Anderson Smears Trump As a Racist And a Nazi

When Anderson returned for another guest-host appearance this year, Christy was back to whine again, just as he did with other Kimmel summer guest hosts. He huffed in an Aug. 11 post:

It’s summer, which means it is time for actor Anthony Anderson to guest host ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! and call Republicans racists. On Monday, Anderson welcomed Rep. Jasmine Crockett to the show to help him continue his ignoble tradition.

Anderson introduced Crockett by playing a montage of what he considered to be her greatest hits, “Our next guest continues to distinguish herself as one of the most outspoken and plainspoken members of the U.S. Congress.”

In the montage, Crockett was shown being one of those performative representatives who is a little too much in love with C-SPAN’s committee room cameras. In one clip, she declared, “Welcome to the Republicans’ white pride rally disguised as a congressional hearing.”

During the actual interview, Anderson wondered, “Now, when you’re going after your Republican colleagues— Because you go at them hard. How is it in the break room or in the lunchroom when you set your lunches? Are y’all still friends? Or do be like, ‘Bitch, pass me the potatoes?’”

Despite Anderson’s earlier montage that basically admitted Crockett is only famous because she is performative, Crockett claimed Republicans are the performative ones, “So they’ll invite me for stuff. They also do things like, ‘Do you want to, like, to get into a fight so we can go on Fox News?’ And I’m like, ‘I’m going to pass.’… I mean, like, literally Republicans are very performative.   Specifically, in this moment. A lot of them don’t like Donald Trump, but they too afraid to say so.”

[…]

Even Jimmy Kimmel Live!’s guest hosts cannot help themselves. They have to use a show that is advertised as being funny and use it to instead smear half the country and rally people to vote for the blue team.

Christy groused again about Anderson the next day:

On Tuesday it was revealed that the Secret Service snuck President Trump out of Turkey using an airport catering truck and a smaller military plane due to Iranian missile threats against the normal Air Force One. Later that night on ABC, Jimmy Kimmel Live! guest host Anthony Anderson called the operation “dumb.”

Before that, however, Anderson played a montage of Trump clips where he claimed the U.S. is “the hottest country in the world.” Anderson reacted by quipping, “Well, all I have to see is wait till he gets to hell.”

[…]

Does Anderson believe that switching Trump to a different plane was something the Secret Service should have advertised? Does he believe that Tmp should have remained on the original Air Force One? What exactly was dumb about the situation?

Christy was still whining about this the following day:

Jimmy Kimmel Live! guest host Anthony Anderson attacked President Trump on ABC for the second night in a row on Wednesday over his Secret Service-orchestrated escape from Turkey after July’s NATO summit. This time, the bright blue-suited Anderson and sidekick Guillermo Rodriguez falsely suggested that Trump decided to save “the hot one” and leave all of his other aides to their fate on the original aircraft.

Anderson began by introducing a clip of Trump talking about the operation while falsely shrinking the size of the vehicle that transported Trump between aircraft and giving the operation a condescending nickname, “So, I mentioned last night that Donald Trump escaped a threat from Iranian attackers by hiding in an airport catering cart also known as Operation Pig in a Blanket. Here’s what the president had to say about it.”

It was a truck. Not a cart. As it was, the video showed Trump being asked by a reporter if he was worried about a shoulder-fired missile and responding, “I don’t worry about anything, to be honest. Whatever it is, you know my attitude? Whatever.”

[…]

Anderson used the plural “advisers” in the lead up to his Miller-Harp choice, which indicates he knows that Harp was not the only one to go with Trump. Others included Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Walt Nauta, and Dan Scavino, but Anderson didn’t mention them because the truth would have ruined the joke that sought to claim Trump only wanted to save “the hot one.”

Christy concluded his week of hate-watching Anderson in a Aug. 14 post:

Anthony Anderson closed out his week of guest hosting ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday by doing his best Kimmel impersonation when talking about the situation with the Strait of Hormuz. According to Anderson, it is difficult to know who to believe, “The authoritarian psychopaths or the Iranians?”

After coming off a bit about advice for the Powerball jackpot winner, Anderson turned to Hormuz, “Speaking of greedy mother[bleep], Donald Trump—yesterday, yesterday he went on Truth Social and said the U.S. ‘has total control over the Strait of Hormuz.’ Well, it turns out that may not be true. Because today Iran said the Strait of Hormuz is actually under their control, and ‘the baseless claims made by the United States are nothing more than lies and falsehoods.’”

Anderson then got to what was supposed to be his punchline, “Now, at this point, I don’t know who to believe. The authoritarian psychopaths or the Iranians?”

This was not the first time Jimmy Kimmel Live! tried to pull a reverse joke that portrays the Iranian regime as the normal one juxtaposed to the supposedly authoritarian Trump.

Christy concluded with one more tirade defending Trump’s war in Iran:

Whatever one thinks of the war or the way it has been fought, the Iranian regime is the one run by authoritarian psychopaths. It has the blood of thousands of its own people on its hands. That was true before the war, during the war, and it will be true after the war.

Anything to justify the war, eh?
