MRC Melts Down Over Mamdani Endorsing Candidates (Like Every Other Politician)

Posted on October 15, 2026

The Media Research Center’s Mamdani meltdowns continue with regularity. For instance:

  • MRC Bulldog Winner Rips Commie NYC Mayor Mamdani Over Insane Tax Policy
  • DUH! NY Times RIPS Mamdani for Not Making ‘Economic Development’ a Top Priority
  • CNN Claims Commie Mamdani Using ‘Capitalist Plan’ to Fix ‘Housing Crisis’
  • ABC Drools Over Mamdani’s Radical Pick to Run Prisons, Focus on ‘Rehabilitation’

Meanwhile, the MRC got really mad that Mamdani supported his preferred congressional candidates — you know, like pretty much every other politician regardless of party. Jorge Bonilla huffed in a June 21 post:

There is an ongoing Democrat civil war underway in New York City, as Mayor Zohran Mamdani attempts to install several fellow Democratic Socialists in Congress- going so far as to support the primary opponent of an incumbent in good standing and not mired in scandal of any kind. But the Elitist Media are outright omitting this from their midterm primary coverage.

[…]

In one particular race, Mamdani has endorsed a DSA organizer with a history of wild tweets who led anti-Israel protests at Columbia University as far back as October 8th, 2023- the day after the horrific Hamas attack against Israel.

[…]

By keeping the discussion non-specific, Jon Karl let the debate veer to whether New York City socialists can resonate nationally. There was no discussion about the fragility of Hakeem Jeffries’ coalition (as is often the case when discussing Republican primaries), and no mention of the insane dynamics of the primary in the 13th District (and the 7th, to a lesser extent).

In the interest of protecting Democrats nationally and Mamdani in New York, you just saw a 4-minute panel discussion talk about nothing. Just the way the Elitist Media loves it when it comes to inconvenient stories.

Bonilla didn’t mention that politicians supporting their favorite politicians is hardly unique.

Curtis Houck grumbled in a June 24 post:

On Wednesday, the broadcast networks covered on their flagship morning newscasts Tuesday’s results from the New York primary election that saw the far-left, Jew-hating socialists go three-for-three in contested races for House seats (and a State Assembly candidate who has gushed over 9/11). However, they sanitized this takeover of the Democrat Party as only in the Big Apple, and their support for eradicating Jews and Israel as believing “the U.S. relationship with Israel needs to be rethought.”

A supposed bastion of pro-Israel and MAGA programming, CBS Mornings was the newscast that delivered this wild understatement.

It was cued up by fill-in co-host Matt Gutman boating of “a big win for progressive left” and proof New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani “is emerging, obviously, as a kingmaker, at least here in New York…with a remarkable influence on voters,” so he wanted to know what “this Democratic socialist sweep tells us about Democratic Party future[.]”

Without verbally naming any of the candidates, O’Keefe argued these socialist candidates are confined to New York City because Mamdani has not yet used his “incredible sway over New York City voters…outside the city.”

He then alluded to the real (and only actual) difference between Mamdani’s picks and those they vanquished, which is believing the Jews have been committing a “genocide” in the Middle East. Non-compliance with that, he argued, is “disqualifying” in the eyes of many Democratic voters:

Mark Finkelstein whined:

Reacting to the election results in yesterday’s NYC Democrat congressional primaries, where Mamdani-endorsed, virulently anti-Israel candidates pulled off a clean sweep, Joe Scarborough took to Morning Joe on Wednesday to lecture viewers.

He said he’s “hearing a lot of people say, talking about the antisemitism in New York City, and last night proved the antisemitism in New York City, and this is Mamdani’s fault, this is so-and-so’s fault, it’s this, is this, no, no, no, it’s not. It’s, it’s really not.”

His verdict? Don’t blame the radicals cheering attacks on Jews or showing up to post-Oct. 7 rallies. Blame Benjamin Netanyahu. Even the “horrors” of October 7 are on Netanyahu’s hands.

[…]

Mamdani’s record is damning. He introduced the “Not on Our Dime!” bill targeting New York charities funding Israeli settlements, calling it subsidizing “war crimes” and “settler violence.” When he attended Bowdoin College in Maine during Obama’s presidency, he was a co-founder of their chapter of “Students for Justice in Palestine,” an academic boycott supporter against “oppressive occupation and racist policies,” a rally speaker against “Israeli settler colonialism” and “Zionism.” He has defended slogans like “Globalize the Intifada,” and “From the river to the sea,” and supports the so-called Palestinian “right of return,” all of which would result in the destruction of Israel as the world’s only Jewish state.

His wife, Rama Duwaji, liked social media posts cheering Hamas’s October 7 slaughter as inspiring “great change” in the immediate aftermath. Mamdani’s team calls this viewpoint “private.”

Scarborough admits the Palestinian massacre of Jewish Olympians at Munich in 1972 shaped his views. Yet “images out of Gaza” override that. But the blowback didn’t start with Israeli self-defense—it was there in the rallies, funding defenses, and slogans long before.

Nicholas Spinnato similarly complained:

After victories from far-left candidates backed by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdnai and Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) in New York’s Democratic primaries, on Wednesday’s CNN This Morning, a pair of panelists, Democratic Strategist Antjuan Seawright and CNN analyst Ron Brownstein, claimed the idea of a socialist takeover of the party was “not as simple as being portrayed.” They then tried to argue the majority of candidates winning primaries were “moderates.”

Cornish started with Democratic House Leader Hakeem Jeffries’ denial of the Democratic socialist candidates and their recent victories, alike with cases of victories of Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) endorsed candidates.

Intern Siena Do huffed in a June 25 post:

NYC has a much more alarming meaning after the Democratic primaries this week: New York Communists. Among those victorious Democrats were Claire Valdez and Darializa Avila Chevalier, both of whom were endorsed by the organization Democratic Socialists of America and Mayor Mamdani.

MS NOW’s Wednesday evening shows All In with Chris Hayes and The 11th Hour with Ali Velshi celebrated Mamdani and Chevalier. Both were treated to softball questions and no pushback for any of the problematic statements made by Chevalier or any other candidate endorsed by the Mayor.

Hayes hosted Mamdani on-air to talk about the results of the primaries, which he was happy about on a personal level. He admitted his brother worked on Brad Lander’s (D-NY) successful campaign. He also praised the Mayor for remaining “very on-message” about his key affordability talking points, and asked Mamdani what the elections were about for him, to which Mamdani replied, “they were about clarity… conscience… [and] conviction.”

Tim Graham served up his own whine the same day:

National “Public” Radio sounded like National Mamdani Radio on the horribly named show All Things Considered on Wednesday night. Co-host Scott Detrow asked very vague questions to New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani that sounded like what Democrats would ask at a precinct caucus.

[…]

Then there was the vaguest question about Israel, with no attempt to define how hostile Mamdani and his candidates are to the Jewish state:

[…]

And the last softball:  “Last question, Mr. Mayor. Were you happier when these three candidates got their races called for them or when the Knicks won?” Duh, he said the Knicks.

And a similar “duh” goes to Graham for ranting that Mamdani is not as right-wing as he is.
