WorldNetDaily columnist Mike Pottage is typically serving as an apologist for Vladimir Putin, but President Biden’s performance at the first presidential debate led him to obsess over that situation, cranking out four columns in two weeks about the debate and its relate conspiracy theories. Pottage’s June 28 column was about one of those conspiracy theories:
When the Democrats agreed to a June debate, even proposing it, skepticism reigned. Why? The man clearly has advanced dementia. Why not just dismiss Donald Trump as a liar and unworthy of debate and avoid catastrophe?
But the Democrat Party leadership did not do that. These people work with Joe Biden every day. They were not, could not, be oblivious to his condition and the reality that he cannot continue. They labored continuously to hide his condition.
Last night, the nation recognized it has been leaderless for a long time. So who is president? Who are the members of the secret committee taking us to war with Russia and dumping on Israel’s leadership?
If you worked in the White House, a couple of questions loomed. Can Mr. Biden survive until Nov. 5 or Jan. 20? And how does a political party dump an incumbent president in the middle of a re-election campaign? Obviously, Kamala Harris cannot be allowed near the presidency, and what better way to rid the party of that liability than throw the decision about the candidate to the convention, and then allow the anointed candidate to pick his or her own vice presidential running mate?
[…]That is where Donald Trump enters the picture. Trump can rise above the fray by concentrating on his policy, and leaving the Democrats to do in Biden. Or, he can pile on and play into the scheme. If Donald Trump campaigns with the idea “come January we have a hell of a lot of work to do …” he rises. If he piles on, the cartoonists will portray him as a vulture picking clean the bones of his beleaguered opponent.
Pottage spent his July 1 column forwarding the idea that the election might be canceled to forestall the possibility of Trump winning:
The media position, almost universally, has been Biden has got to go because he might not win. And, if he does not win, Trump will, and we cannot allow that to happen.
But when President Biden’s dementia could no longer be hidden, concern for the man and concern for the country did not enter into the media calculation. Both the Atlanta newspaper remnant and the New York Times editorially bemoaned that Biden cannot win and therefore must be replaced. The singular reason for that opinion? Trump must not win.
The media demand is “anybody but Trump.”
There is no room in that argument for humanity. There is no policy consideration, no calculation of what a dementia-plagued president means to the nation and the world. The editorial comment on video and in print called for a candidate who would beat Trump.
What’s next on the media agenda? Are we going to hear calls from MSNBC and CNN to suspend the 2024 election and name a handpicked White House occupant to avoid the “threat to democracy” posed by Donald J. Trump?
Pottage used his July 4 column to try and blame Russia’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine on Biden:
Post-debate coverage has been dominated by Joe Biden’s physical manifestations of dementia. Democrats have captured the moment as they decide who will replace Joe Biden. That’s all one reads in the newspaper and sees in the video.
Biden’s tragic economic, social and foreign policy failures, as a consequence, are no longer discussed. The Democrat primary elections are ignored. and the most important aspect of this national election, an examination of policies pursued during the past three and a half years by this president and his party, is gone from the national conversation.
The war against Russia is escalating rapidly across the border with Ukraine to the point Moscow cannot allow it to continue. NATO membership for Ukraine is not worth World War III, but this is not discussed. The purpose of NATO is to discourage nuclear war by the application of mutual force. That goal has been superseded by the Democratic Party and its war-campaign against Russia.
The war in Ukraine actually may be a product of calculation following the deadly debacle in Afghanistan where American soldiers died on the battlefield during a surrender to the Taliban, a surrender orchestrated by Joe Biden and his party. […]By placing Joe Biden on that controlled debate stage, the party has taken over presidential succession. It is of critical importance to the Democratic Party to deflect the focus on domestic and foreign policy failures and shout “look over here! The president has dementia. Who should replace him?” And in the process, a list of Democrat replacements emerges. The media becomes obsessed with which Democrat will succeed Joe Biden. The election is now all about the Democrats and their seemingly natural right to govern.
And the wholesale destruction of America continues.
Pottage’s July 11 column was all about freaking out that the presidential race was still in a dead heat despite Biden’s performance:
The Fox News website published the most frightening headline yet on the morning of July 11, 2024.
It read: “Poll shows 2024 presidential race is in a dead heat ahead of Biden’s high-stakes press conference.”
It might as well have announced in a few hours the moon will crash into the Earth. How can that be?
How could America have been witness to three years of chaos and the dead-man-walking debate and possibly think Joe Biden is worthy of being president today, tomorrow, next week, let alone for four more years!
If that poll Fox cited is correct, what does that public opinion tell about the future of America’s experiment in self-government? The first thought may be the poll must be in error. The second thought may be, “It’s over.”
If Joe Biden is fit to serve out the week, perhaps it is time to contact England and beg forgiveness. Does America really want to be a world power armed with nuclear weapons and be led by a man who cannot negotiate the stairs or cross the stage unaided? With such razor-sharp control of his mind is he capable of cooking eggs for breakfast?
Does he understand that when the Ukrainian air force, perhaps trained at a U.S. base, takes off with those dozens of F-16s to take the war to Moscow, the people of this world may be awaken the next day to a strangely colored killer sky?
Biden is determined to use surrogate Ukrainians to attack Russia. Does he even know, does he even have a hint, at the possible reactions? That headline this morning screams “we’re behind you Joe, no matter what!” Just get through this press conference and everything will be OK.
This has nothing to do with being anti-war or anti-communist or pro-American. It is a common-sense thing. If you poison your neighbor’s dog, expect a reaction. Chase after his wife, expect a reaction. And borrow a fleet of F-16 to kill Russians citizens, expect a reaction.
Pottage continues to not understand that Russia, not Ukraine, is the aggressor in this war — Russia invaded the country, so it (and Pottage) should expect a reaction. Pottage remained in panic mode:
The reelection of Joe Biden and the Democrat Party is akin to a suicide pact. It certainly cannot be construed as a national priority, or a nation opportunity. This solo news conference is a desperate attempt to project an image. There is no other reason up for discussion. This is a paid political advertisement financed with tax dollars to promote a desperately ill man as a candidate for president. It has no legitimate pubic purpose.
This is DEI at the high school graduation where the dumbest kid in the class is valedictorian.
Here’s the deal, folks. We need to rid ourselves of this barnacle before he sinks the ship of state, and that will apply no matter how the media assess his press conference performance. Biden has been bad news for America, and it will only get worse.
Pottage refuses to acknowledge the poll finding that Trump is so distasteful and offensive to so many Americans that someone in Biden’s condition is still seen as a better option.
