Before Tim Walz was named Kamala Harris running mate, an July 31 article by Nicole Wells complained that Walz tweaked J.D. Vance’s firearm skills:
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz seemed to question the shooting skills of Sen. J.D. Vance, R-Ohio, claiming that the GOP vice presidential nominee can’t hunt pheasants the way he can.
“That’s what J.D. Vance’s shtick is, talking about guns. I guarantee you he can’t shoot pheasants like I can,” Walz said Tuesday on “Anderson Cooper 360 Degrees.”
“And that’s a part of saying, but you know what, I guarantee I don’t want weapons of war in classrooms. And there’s no reason that you can’t have reasonable restrictions around that without infringing on your Second Amendment.”
A few days later, Walz officially took his place as Harris’ running mate. And just as it did when Harris became the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, Newsmax spewed a torrent of hate at Walz by prominently quoting the expected right-wing pro-Trump people:

Larry Bell went on the attack in his Aug. 9 column:
Now 19 days after her nomination as Democratic presidential candidate we have yet to hear Vice President Kamala Harris hold an open unscripted press conference to address important national and international policy positions, priorities and strategies that will guide her Harris-Walz campaign.
Add to this, it’s safe to say with national elections only about three months away that relatively few citizens outside of Minnesota are familiar with the political background of current Gov. and former Democratic Congressman Tim Walz either, or on that basis, why Kamala chose him as her running mate.
However, there can be no confusion regarding one overriding common characteristic they share.
They both are far-left socialists.
So let’s briefly review what is generally known about Tim Walz that supports his own philosophy which he summed up during the Aug. 6 “White Dudes for Harris” fundraiser call: “Don’t ever shy away from our progressive values. One person’s socialism is another person’s neighborliness.”
After reciting a litany of right-wing talking points against Walz, Bell huffed: “Perhaps it’s because former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty was accurate in describing Walz as ‘philosophically and politically’ aligned with Harris, ‘a sort of Bernie Sanders in hunting gear,’ essentially “the same product, just in different wrappers.'”
