Justine Brooke Murray seems way too excited about the new Miss Universe in a Nov. 18 post:
Leave it to Miss Universe to mark the end of universal wokeness.
Victoria Kjær Theilvig made history Saturday when she became the first contestant, representing Denmark to win the Miss Universe pageant. She’s also making history as the first blonde-haired, Blue-eyed (actual) woman to win the competition in over 20 years.
Unbelievable, miss Universe is a natural born female! 😂 pic.twitter.com/wyuBUZlQ0C— Figen (@TheFigen_) November 18, 2024
Besides the fact she has no bulge, many viewers believe Theilvig’s crowning marks a symbolic end to the era of DEI. Something tells me it’s no coincidence women of her demographic have been passed up consecutively for 2 decades.
Murray then lashed out at recent pageant leadership for not being obsessed with blonde white girls:
President-elect Donald Trump had owned the pageant up until 2015, when he was blacklisted from show business for announcing his initial White House bid as a Republican candidate. The organization had already begun crowning biological men by then, but used the change in ownership to snub even more biological females from state and national titles.
[…]He lifted the age limit, placed 60 year olds and morbidly obese candidates on pedestals, and woke-fied the pageant into bankruptcy. Like every industry that virtue signals a bit too far, the pageant world began to die.
Murray embraced the narrative that Theilvig’s win means it’s OK to be racist in Trump’s America:
Now that Trump won back the White House, fans credit the “effect” of the Presidential election results for Saturday night’s surprise shift.
[…]Social media users praise Theilvig’s victory as part of a new cultural tide that rejects everything our progressive overlords have force-fed us the last few years.
From a fellow pageant girl who has endured my fair share of woke reforms and progressive judges over the years, I send my full congratulations to Victoria on a crown well-earned!
Murray didn’t explain why only blonde white women should be allowed to win beauty pageants. Sounds kinda racist, no? Still, it’s a narrative Murray’s fellow right-wingers have embraced.
As if to emphasize the point, Murray — herself blonde and presumably blue-eyed — attached a video of her onstage interview for the 2021 Miss New Jersey pageant, during which she launched into a right-wing screed:
Our generation is experiencing an epidemic of censorship and entitlement, and it’s because our professors and our celebrities are teaching students to be narcissists, to believe that any view that differs from their own is an existential threat, and this is what I experience on my own campus with censorship, to the point where people believe that speech is violence, so that they can threaten other people with violence simply because they disagree with them.
Murray then dramatically grabbed the microphone off its stand and walked to the front of the stage for a lecture that might has well have been written by the MRC:
Let me ask you something. Are you a student? Are you a teacher? Are you a professor? The mere words “I’m offended” are now being used an excuse to silence students, fire professors and cancel people simply because they do not toe the popular line of thought. And that’s what I experience: an Orwellian phenomenon dominating my own campus to the point where it got borderline violent.
Conveniently, Murray’s job as the MRC as a replacement goldfish for Tierin-Rose Mandelburg lets her get well-paid for shouting “I’m offended” with the goal of silencing people who do not toe her specific line of thought. In other words, her entire pageant lecture is nothing but projecting.
