Newsmax has long been a fan of Texas attorney general Ken Paxton. In 2023, a column by John Gizzi touted how Paxton’s allies were “planning revenge on the GOP state House members who voted to impeach him and the Republican senators who will be crucial in deciding his fate.” Newsmax has touted other Paxton exploits over the years as well. When Paxton went into a runoff for the Republican nomination for a Senate seat with Sen. John Cornyn, Newsmax picked a side and promoted it:

Paxton won the runoff, and Newsmax had him on shortly afterward in a May 29 TV appearance:
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton told Newsmax on Friday that his general election U.S. Senate campaign against Democrat James Talarico will center on using Talarico’s own words to expose what Paxton called a record of dishonesty and political reinvention.
Appearing on “Finnerty,” the Republican nominee said his campaign has already begun moving quickly to define Talarico for voters after Tuesday’s primary runoff win.
“We’re already getting our message out. And we’re using, as you can see, his words, which is kind of interesting because now he’s backing off,” Paxton said. “He used those words when he was running in the Democratic primary.
No dissenting views were permitted — such has his divorce and adultery.
