The Media Research Center has apparently gotten tired of its fellow right-wingers cashing in on affiliations with precious metals dealers (like WorldNetDaily’s links with Swiss America), and it has decided it wants in on that apparently sweet action. Thus, we have a June 8 podcast in which guest host Curtis Houck links up with his own gold dealer:

That wasn’t all. Fuljenz wrote a June 12 post in which he shilled for gold using old arguments:
For almost 200 years after the nation’s founding in the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. could brag about having the world’s strongest long-term currency, with hardly any inflation until the 1960s, the decade when President Lyndon B. Johnson took silver out of our coins. Then, Nixon closed the gold window in 1971. This debasement of our currency was a natural outgrowth of excessive spending by LBJ and by every President and Congress of both major political parties in the 60 years since then.
At the time of our nation’s birth, however, all of our major Founding Fathers spoke glowingly of gold and silver. They had struggled with inflation caused by paper “Continentals,” which flooded the nation then. At one point, in 1779, General George Washington wrote to John Jay, our future first Chief Justice, in a plea for sound money, “A wagon load of money will scarcely purchase a wagon load of provisions.”
Fuljenz also wrote a July 20 post in which he defended President Trump issuing a $1 coin bearing his image:
A recent Associated Press article entitled “U.S. Mint produces a $1 coin bearing Trump’s face to help celebrate America’s 250th birthday” is lacking important context and information, like many similar columns in various outlets.
The new golden Trump $1 coin will be comprised of 88.5% copper, 6%, 3.5% manganese and 2% nickel. And, despite allegations from many in the media objecting to the legality of the president’s face on the coin, it is not always against federal law to put a living person on a U.S. coin, nor is it unprecedented.

Non-circulating legal tender refers to official coins that possess a legal face value but are minted for collectors and investors rather than for daily spending. Because their precious metal or numismatic value far exceeds their printed denomination, they are almost never used in regular commerce.
One other thing: While the MRC gives Fuljenz the “Dr.” honorific, he’s not a medical doctor — his doctorate is in humane letters and is honorary, not earned. This reminds us of how the ConWeb insisted on referring to Alveda King as “Dr.” despite the fact that her doctorate was also honorary.
