WND’s Elder Still Suffering From Obama Derangement Syndrome

Posted on October 3, 2026

Larry Elder is prone to fits of Obama Derangement Syndrome — neer mind that he hasn’t been president for nearly a decade — and he has continued to demonstrate that in his WorldNetDaily columns this year. He huffed in a March 12 column:

Former President Barack Obama long ago surpassed the Rev. Jesse Jackson and the Rev. Al Sharpton as America’s most influential race hustler. The country got a reminder when Obama spoke at Jackson’s funeral even though Jackson’s son urged the speakers “not to bring their politics” to the service.

Obama said: “Every day you wake up to things you just didn’t think were possible. Each day, we’re told by those in high office to fear each other, and to turn on each other. And that some Americans count more than others.” Same old Obama.

[…]

In Obama’s eight years as president, he repeatedly whipped out the race card, injecting racial division into matters large and small while maintaining the image of a racial unifier who would heal America’s deepest wounds.

[…]

From the beginning of his presidency until its end, Obama stoked resentment, divided Americans by skin color and kept the race grievance industry alive and well oiled. The man Americans hired to unite us became the victicrat-in-chief, a title his Jackson eulogy shows he retains.

Trump-hating media still gives Obama a pass no Republican could ever dream of receiving. Imagine a Republican president doing even half of what Obama did: routinely injecting race into controversies, cozying up to a white Sharpton-like figure and rapping his arms around a toxic “movement” called White Lives Matter. The outrage would be endless, the headlines relentless – and rightfully so.

Obama’s real legacy on race? Blacks are eternal victims – distressed, oppressed and suppressed by “The Man” – and trapped in a system rigged against them from birth to death. His own extraordinary rise, of course, contradicts this counterproductive message. Yet he persists in selling it to willing buyers.

Obama is still relatively young. So, he has decades ahead to remain a loud voice in the public square – and he possesses a warehouse full of race cards ready to be played. What a waste.

Elder continued his anti-Obama ranting in his July 2 column:

Former President Barack Obama recently explained why he rarely comments on current politics:

“There are moments … where our core values are at stake. In those moments, I think it’s appropriate for me to say something.”

But if the rise of democratic socialism inside his own party, the growing denunciation of capitalism and accusations that Israel is committing “genocide” don’t qualify as moments when America’s core values are at stake, what does?

[…]

Obama once scoffed at those who called him a socialist, saying they should “meet real socialists.” He defended market economics as the engine of innovation and prosperity. He defended Israel’s right to defend itself. He urged Americans to reject ideological extremes.

Obama says he speaks when America’s “core values are at stake.” Many Americans – including many Democrats – might reasonably ask: If not this, what? If not now, when?

The derangement continued in Elder’s Aug. 13 column:

Former President Barack Obama will likely campaign for Abdul El-Sayed, the far-left Democrat who just won Michigan’s U.S. Senate primary.

The two spoke after the primary, and El-Sayed publicly said he hopes Obama will campaign for him. Michigan could determine control of the Senate, and Obama remains the most popular Democrat.

El-Sayed won despite performing poorly among black primary voters. His coalition skewed younger, whiter, college-educated and progressive. In Detroit, Michigan’s largest majority-black city, El-Sayed’s opponent won more than 60% of the Democratic Senate vote. That may work in a Democratic primary. But will it work in November?

Enter Obama.

[…]

Like Obama, El-Sayed chastises “the rich” for “not paying their fair share in taxes.” Like Obama, who said racism is part of the America’s “DNA,” El-Sayed believes racism remains a serious problem.

How far from Obama are these “far-left” Democrats? Last year, Obama called Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani during his campaign for New York City mayor, praised his campaign and reportedly offered to serve as a “sounding board.”

[…]

So, expect the former president to show up. And when he does, Obama will give “the brothers” a message. You may not have wanted this candidate. His positions may be against your self-interests.

But vote for him anyway.

Given how often Elder has these ODS fits, perhaps he should get treatment for it.
