Like its ConWeb compadres at Newsmax and the Media Research Center, WorldNetDaily seized on sections of Robert Hur’s report on the classified documents that President Biden had in his possession while out of office to portray him as senile. Bob Unruh summarized another biased right-wing outlet’s coverage of the report in a Feb. 8 article:
A special prosecutor has determined that Joe Biden did, indeed, take and keep classified government papers to which he was not entitled, and even shared the information with others.
Multiple acts violated federal law, but Biden isn’t going to be charged, as least partly because his “age and poor memory would create reasonable doubt for jurors,” according to a report in Just the News.
President Trump, who is being prosecuted for a long list of federal counts for what essentially were the same actions, charged the determination confirms a two-tier system of justice in America, where Democrats commit crimes and get off, while he, as a Republican, is prosecuted.
[…]The FBI, under the direction of Biden, in fact, staged a SWAT-style raid on Trump’s home to hunt down documents he retained from his presidency. As president he had authority to have those documents, and had the authority to declassify them.
Of course, it’s untrue that they “essentially were the same actions,” given that Trump adamantly refused to return his classified documents when repeatedly asked to do so, ultimately resulting in the FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago to retrieve them — something Unruh surely knows but is choosing to play dumb about. There’s also no evidence that Biden ordered the raid on Mar-a-Lago, contrary to Unruh’s claim.
Unruh mined the senility angle for another article that day:
The details of a new special counsel report about Joe Biden’s willful decision to keep classified documents to which he was not entitled, and even share them with others, includes damning confirmation about his declining mental ability.
Fox News reports that Biden, when interviewed by special counsel Robert Hur, “could not remember key details, such as when he was vice president, during interviews with investigators.”
Biden’s decline has been apparent to all observers in recent years. He’s called during a press conference on a member of Congress who was dead, in just the last few days he’s talked of discussions with European leaders who are dead, he’s misidentified his grandchildren and much more.
Needless to say, all this provided grist for WND’s Biden-hating columnists. Mike Pottage worked up some faux outrage for a Feb. 8 column:
Special Counsel Robert Hur just reported that President Biden is too feeble and lacks the mental capacity to remember the names of his immediately family. As far back as 2017 his mental state had deteriorated so much he would not be held accountable in a court of law for his actions, Hur speculated in his report explaining why Biden would not charged despite violating federal law involving his handling of classified documents.
How does this not disqualify him from being president? The best Hur could do was to characterize him as a sympathetic character, a feeble old man who made honest mistakes. That may be nice and kind, but there is a country at stake here.
Democrats cannot run with a candidate that is so mentally incapable he cannot be charged with a crime, yet smart enough to launch U.S. nuclear weapons or get us in a war with Russia over the fate of Ukraine. But until Hur made public what the White House staff and the Democratic National Committee already know, Biden was their man. Now, things may change.
The nation will be torn apart if one former president is hounded and pursued because he exercised his authority to possess classified materials while Joe Biden, as a former vice president, had no authority whatsoever, to possess military, intelligence and foreign policy secrets in boxes in an unprotected garage, but he did. And not only that, he shared the content with others. Our entire justice system is jeopardized by these circumstances.
The Democratic Party repeatedly has demonstrated it has no stomach for Biden’s removal as a presidential candidate in 2024. Instead Democrats use every occasion to attack Trump as a “threat to democracy,” while they know their man may not recognize his own wife.
Pottage ranted further in another column the next day, huffily headlined “The White House is not a memory care facility”:
Joe Biden needs to be retired. Joe Biden needs to be retired for the sake of the nation and the future of the world. Thank him for his service. Be as kind as possible. This is not the time or place for bitter partisan rancor. Whatever Joe Biden is not, he is the president, and his intellectual demise is a tragedy.
The Constitution provides for this scenario. Democrats won the last presidential election, and Democrats will claim the presidency if Joe steps aside before the end of his scheduled four years in office.
[…]America is entering a unique situation, a caretaker presidency assembled in the midst of a volatile presidential election, with the world at war in two regions, Marxists attempting to assembly a worldwide governance and the homeland invaded. The invasion of illegals alone is a much greater threat to the USA than the attack upon Pearl Harbor.
Mychal Massie added his own special brand of unhinged hate in a Feb. 12 column:
Reflect for a moment how dead from the neck up, i.e., a meathead, one must be to argue Biden is competent and coherent enough to be president. Anyone who argues Biden is fit to be in the White House as anything other than a towel dispenser, is either a meathead or a pernicious congenital liar and deceiver.
Biden is a psychologically impaired combination of narcissist and sociopath. Add to his unstable narcissism, his arrogance, egotism and the appearance that he alone is worthy, and you have a variant species of humanoid who at first glance has less of an appetite for sodomizing men and vice versa than his predecessor, Obama, boasts.
I’ve said many times that Obama exhibits behavior that at best can be described as mobocratic and, at worst, reveals a deeply damaged individual and tin-plated wannabe potentate. This is a factual observation in Biden’s case.
[…]Biden today is the preceding on steroids. He’s beyond mentally deficient; he’s in a permanent state of confusion and a downward spiral that ultimately culminates in total mental collapse.
If he were just an old, decrepit, fog-brained family member suffering end-of-life cognitive dysfunction brought on by a lifetime of hard drinking and drug abuse, it would be one thing. But, sadly to say, he occupies the top leadership position in the nation.
On both micro and macro levels he’s non compos mentis, i.e., “of unsound mind.” He literally walks off stage platforms; he falls up the steps of planes; he stares off into space for paralyzing long periods of time in the middle of his speeches; he is incapable of finishing sentences, answering questions; he is a complete embarrassment to himself and the office he holds when he slobbers and drools as he sniffs the hair of young girls and gropes women.
I’m not a psychiatrist nor do I pretend to be one, but I recognize unstable behavior when I see it, and Biden’s behavior is becoming even more uncontrollably appalling than in the past. I posit that this behavior is indicative of a person “literally” coming apart at the seams and only barely being held together by drugs and medications that would prevent people from obtaining a CDL license, much less having access to the nation’s nuclear codes.
Editor Joseph Farah contributed as well with his own Feb. 12 column:
It was almost a schizophrenic report from Special Counsel Robert Hur.
What was more damning – the contents of top-secret classified information and documents that were “willfully,” and inappropriately, retained and disclosed by Joe Biden for years as senator and vice president, or Hur’s report that characterized him as an old man with a poor memory who is not in command of his surroundings?
Hur thread the needle between laying out an airtight case against Biden for possession of the papers and utter incompetence as president.
[…]Never before has a president showed so clearly a case of incompetence. Hardly one of his press conferences or public appearances fails to show the evidence. It has become embarrassing. It has become newsworthy. If the man can’t be tried for high crimes and misdemeanors, surely he must be stripped of his office, even if it means Vice President Kamala Harris would replace him.
The 25th Amendment would do that. One of its sections provides the vice president and majority of either the Cabinet “or such other body as Congress may by law provide” with a mechanism to transfer power from the president.
Farah did not discuss who is actually running his WND these days, given his periods of incapacitation by a series of strokes.
Pottage returned for some concern-trolling in a Feb. 13 column:
It appears Jill Biden likes being president as much as Joe Biden does. Her attempt to illicit sympathy to deflect Joe’s blackout on things such as the date of his son’s death demands we forget about the blank spaces that regularly appear as part of the president’s persona.
Jill Biden was the one person who knew about, and could have acknowledged, Joe Biden’s loss of memory and signs of dementia before 2020. Dementia is unmistakable, as everyone who has lived with an afflicted loved one knows.
More than four years ago, the president displayed egregious signs of dementia so the hierarchy of the Democratic Party decided to severely restrict his public appearances during the campaign. He was derided for conducting the 2020 election campaign from his basement, but it worked. Today, media types are criticizing Democrats for allowing the president to hold an evening press conference.
Fast forward four years, and Jill Biden is at it again, making excuses and conducting a political messaging campaign to hide the truth. The truth is Joe Biden is incapable of being much of anything now. It is not his fault. He does deserve sympathy, kindness and consideration, as he is disconnected from the past and rendered incapable of anticipating the future.
However, the nation must have a functioning president.
It is doubtful, bordering upon delusional, to think anyone from the Biden Cabinet, or Jill Biden, would be elected president on their own, but that is essentially how the United States of America is being governed. There is a bureaucratic component to this. The Antony Blinkens and Jake Sullivans of this world, along with Biden appointees and family, constitute America’s caretaker government.
If Jill Biden were really concerned about her husband, and not power, privately she would be advocating his retirement and working to create a comforting, supportive, peaceful environment for him. Instead, the man is threatened by the truth of it all, and lashes out to defend himself. Anger is one of the dementia’s symptoms.
A message to the Democratic Party: quit abusing Biden.
Apparently, abusing Biden is supposed to be the duty of right-wing haters like Pottage.
Unruh was still hyping this narrative a week later, with a Feb. 16 article touting accusations at the right-wing Federalist that the “legacy media” has been covering up for “Biden’s senility.”
