Nicholas Camberas spent a Jan. 3 Newsmax column declaring that we should blindly support Donald Trump on whatever he does, particularly on visa issues:
As a proud first-generation American whose parents couldn’t even dream of attending high school, let alone graduating college with a degree in science or engineering, I find myself fascinated by the recent digital donnybrook which erupted over the H1B Visa program.
The fight even featured some of President-elect Donald J. Trump’s most ardent supporters trashing each other using uncharacteristically vulgar language and insults.
The hostile exchanges only abated after an indirect intervention from President Trump declaring his support for the H1B Visa program.
Anyone rushing to claim victory on behalf of the side mocking American culture as a justification for the H1B program, makes a gross miscalculation.
Or soon to be nation’s 47th commander in chief is justifiably considered perhaps the most ferocious, passionate advocate, and protector of the American worker in our nation’s history.
Mr. Trump will not ignore the fact that far too many highly educated, competent, and hardworking Americans have been locked out of the American Dream because of the implementation of this program.
In theory, every rational, logical person should support the premise of the H1B Visa program. If our country doesn’t have workers who possess certain skills necessary for a business to be successful, of course we should welcome foreign workers with open arms.
Chamberas did make other arguments in favor of the program, but they are undermined y the headline on his column: “If Trump Supports H1B Visa Program, So Should We.”
The rest of us prefer to engage in free thinking rather than blind loyalty.
