The Media Research Center labored hard to blame liberals and DEI policies for the California wildfires, despite a lack of legitimate evidence to back up the allegation. Jeffrey Lord used his Jan. 11 column to complain that liberals weren’t being blamed even more than they already were:
Pick a tragedy – a school shooting, a hurricane to name two – and the media is quick to zero in if the governor or other top official is a Republican.
Yet here we are watching the horrific fire sweeping the Los Angeles area and lo and behold, Mayor Bass and Governor Newsom, both with responsibilities to protect Los Angeles from the looming potential of the natural disaster that is these fires, and the media falls silent on their performance.
[…]If the person in charge of these episodes were Democrats, the media would keep considerable distance from placing blame on the Democrat in charge. (Unless you are an angry, distraught Mom who accidentally finds herself face to face with a reluctant Governor Newsom.)
But if the Governor or other official in charge is a Republican — a Texas GOP Governor Abbott, a House Speaker Johnson or, no irony, Governor DeSantis himself — then the media will swoop in with a determined effort to headline that GOP official’s responsibility for whatever tragedy is at hand.
Lord didn’t concede that Republicans bore the same responsibility for the tragedies he cited as the Democrats he loves to blame for the wildfires.
Justine Brooke Murray sneered in a Jan. 12 post headlined :LA DEI”:
You might not be able to rely on your firefighters to save you from a burning building, but at least they look like you!
Having a queer female fire chief will apparently “give” you “a little bit more ease” as you watch California’s wildfires burn your family and pets alive.
Murray failed to prove that LGBT people are inherently disqualified from being firefighter.
Murray served up more anti-DEI hysteria in her Jan. 15 podcast:
Why should some toxic masculine type who looks like Sylvester Stallone show up on your doorstep to help when you can pay nearly four hundred thousand taxpayer dollars to watch a squad of lesbian girl bosses break the glass ceiling?
Just don’t expect them to break the glass case to any fire extinguishers.
That’s the tricky thing about replacing efficiency with “diversity, equity and inclusion.” Like all Marxist initiatives, it’s a hopeless attempt to cheat reality in order to affirm the feelings of society’s underachievers, no matter how unfit they are for the job they’re entrusted with.
When the tyranny of feelings is adopted as public policy, DEI eventually comes full circle with Darwinism, the very outcome its proponents thought they could avoid.
On Tuesday’s episode of “Woke of the Weak,” I break down the DEI dumpster fire ravaging California.
As the MRC’s resident culture ranter, she dressed up in a colored wig (because all lesbians have multicolored hair, apparently) and placing statement out of context for lazy bits of alleged humor.
That’s what passes for “humor” at the MRC these days.
