The Media Research Center is not the only ConWeb outlet to have right-wing meltdowns over George Soros. Nick Koutsobinas wrote in a May 5 Newsmax article:
George Soros sought to undermine justice in America, former U.S. Attorney Joseph diGenova told Newsmax regarding Mary Moriarty, a county attorney in Minnesota whom the Justice Department is investigating amid allegations she gave preferential treatment to minorities.
“George Soros went around the country getting people like this elected to office, whose only purpose was to undermine the effectiveness of the criminal justice system and to go easy on criminals,” diGenova said on “American Agenda.”
Moriarty is the top prosecutor in Hennepin County, Minnesota, which includes Minneapolis.
In fact, Moriarty did not order anyone to give “preferential treatment to minorities” or “go easy” on them; she simply stated that prosecutors should consider race when offering plea deals. DiGenova also offered no evidence that Soros directly gave her campaign money, let alone has knowledge of her existence; instead, groups accused of receiving Soros money have donated to her campaign, though no evidence is offered that any of that money was specifically earmarked for that purpose by Soros. It’s also highly unlikely that a 90-something man like Soros “went around the country” doing anything, let alone “getting people like this elected to office.”
Needless to say, Newsmax made no effort to correct the record.
