We’ve shown how the Media Research Center complained that that Elon Musk’s extravagant spending in a judicial race in Wisconsin was called out while that of George Soros wasn’t, even though Soros spent only one-tenth the money that Soros did. The whining that Musk’s political spending was called out continued in a March 31 post by Jorge Bonilla:
On the eve of Wisconsin’s pivotal Supreme Court election, which could decide the balance of the Court, the permanence of Scott Walker’s reforms and potentially alter the makeup of Congress, CBS aired a report that simultaneously broadcasts the Elite Resistance Media’s contempt for the Rust Belt and its severe Musk Derangement Syndrome.
CBS Senior White House Correspondent Ed O’Keefe begins his video package by dismissing the importance of the election:
[…]In one of the wilder instances of overt bias we’ve seen in a while, O’Keefe’s video package displays dollar amounts donated by Elon Musk in direct (or indirect) support of conservative candidate Brad Schimel. No such dollar amounts, though, disclosed for donors JB Pritzker and George Soros in support of liberal Susan Crawford:
[…]“Millions”, says O’Keefe. Unspecified, indeterminate millions by billionaires Soros and Pritzker versus a dollar amount by Musk. The contrast couldn’t be clearer.
But Bonilla didn’t disclose the dollar amounts either. Musk spent more than $20 million to aid Schimel, while Soros spent just $2 million to aid Crawford and Pritzker gave $1.5 million to the state Democratic Party for Crawford’s campaign. Still, Bonilla whined, “CBS’s coverage of the Wisconsin Supreme Court race is a reminder: if it weren’t for double standards, there would often be none at all.” He didn’t mention his and his employer’s double standards.
Bonilla had a similar meltdown over a different channel in an April 2 post:
CNN went into overdrive for its coverage of the two special congressional elections in Florida, and the Wisconsin Supreme Court election, pre-empting their normal prime time schedule in favor of full Election Night Coverage. Coverage proved to be little more than an exercise in Elon Musk Derangement therapy, with some elections happening in-between.
[…]Talking down the economy to own Trump and Elon is a look, perhaps on-brand for CNN- certainly on-brand for Phillip. This is what Elon derangement does.
Next, CNN brings on Kara Swisher, who has turned Elon-deranged hatred into its own self-sustaining cottage industry:
Bonilla was silent on the $20-plus million Musk spent on the race, and he didn’t mention that his employer made a habit of talking down the economy to won Joe Biden was president even though it was actually ding pretty good\. Instead, he conclude with another whine: “Anything less than a total Republican sweep in Florida and Wisconsin was going to be cast by the Resistance Media as a failure by Elon Musk. The Musk-Deranged Media worked to craft, hone, and then propagate their narrative of Musk as villain. Going forward, they will continue to do so.”
Bonilla served yet another Musk-defending whine the next day:
As predicted, the Resistance Media have scrambled to make Tesla/SpaceX founder Elon Musk the scapegoat for last night’s special election outcomes. As part of that effort and despite clear evidence to the contrary, they have tied Musk’s upcoming exit from the Trump administration to these election results.
Consider how ABC World News Tonight closed out its report: by insinuating that Musk’s exit is due to the election results:
[…]You’ll notice that, for the most part, these reports single Musk out for his spending. However, these same reports never mention liberal billionaires JB Pritzker, George Soros and Reid Hoffmann, who spent big money on the Democrat candidate. But we digress.
Again, Bonilla refused to report dollar amounts, since the truth would blow up his narrative. Hoffman gave just $250,000, meaning that together, the donations of Soros, Prtizker and Hoffman together still amounted to only one-fifth of what Musk spent.
