Bob Unruh began a May 6 WorldNetDaily article this way:
Tina Peters, formerly a clerk in Mesa County, Colorado, and a Republican, while trying to protect and preserve 2020 election results from her county, apparently briefly exposed an election systems password.
Democrats in her state put her in jail for nine years for that situation.
Now President Donald Trump is ordering the Department of Justice to help her.
Unruh is dishonestly whitewashing Peters’ offenses. She did much more than “briefly exposed an election systems password” — as a much more credible news outlet reported, Peters allowed a security card accessing the Mesa County election system to be misused by a fellow election denier, and was then deceptive about who that person was. Prosecutors and the judge pointed out that Peters was trying to make herself famous by promoting fraud claims, even though no vote discrepancies were found in Mesa County.
Unruh then tried to distract from Peters’ actual crimes by referencing a completely different situation:
The injustice of the sentence for Peters was made plain only a few months ago when it was revealed that Jena Griswold, the blue state’s Democrat secretary of state, was found to have posted an entire list of state election systems passwords online, but prosecutors gave her a pass.
In fact, it was an employee in Griswold’s office who posted the passwords, not Griswold herself, the posting was done inadvertently because they were hidden within the posted document. But rather than being honest, Unruh grumbled that “authorities handed her a free pass for her behavior.” Unruh’s complaint about Griswold is doubly ironic because the passwords Peters gave out ended up being posted on right-wing blog — another thing Unruh has censored,
After asserting without evidence that “Griswold played an integral role in hounding Peters when she made that copy of election results,” Unruh went on a screed about politicians in Colorado:
In fact, Colorado is run by majority Democrats in the state House and Senate, and a Democrat, homosexual Jared Polis, is governor. Further, all of the members of the state Supreme Court are Democrats, and they took their partisanship to an extreme, wildly attempting to bar Trump from the 2024 presidential ballot in the state.
Colorado also has firmly established a reputation as a dictatorial regime, having tried multiple times to control the thoughts and beliefs of business owners by mandating that they promote pro-LGBT ideologies in order to do business in the state.
Mind you, this is a supposedly objective reporter who is falsely (and laughably) smearing Colorado as a “dictatorial regime.” This is yet another reason why nobody believes WND.
