Like the Media Research Center, WorldNetDaily peddled the Trump Regime Media narrative that Rep. Alex Pdilly getting forcibly removed from a press conference by DHS secretary Kristi Noem was a stunt. Bob Unruh used a June 12 article to falsely claim that Padilla was heckling Noem:
Democrat Sen. Alex Padilla, from California, has been forcibly removed from a press conference featuring Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem for heckling.
The video shows multiple security officers restraining Padilla, then removing him from the room.
He shouts, “Hands off!” after being moved through double doors that partition off an entry area from the news conference room. Earlier, he is heard saying, “I’m Sen. Alex Padilla. I have questions for the secretary.”
Unruh cited no actual heckling from Padilla; he simply repeated what he found in a tweet from the right-wing Daily Caller.
An anonymously written June 17 article mocked Padilla for talking about his ordeal:
U.S. Sen. Alex Padilla, D-Calif., Tuesday tearfully described for his colleagues on the Senate floor his experience with law enforcement after he barged into a press conference in Los Angeles last week, demanding DHS Secretary Kristi Noem answer his questions.
In what many have called a political stunt, Padilla showed up at the event unannounced, wearing street clothes and without his identifying U.S. Senate lapel pin. Secret Service agents tasked with protecting Noem reportedly did not recognize him as a federal elected official.
Padilla on Tuesday appeared to choke up as he described his seemingly traumatic experience.
The anonymous WND writer cited no actual evidence that Padilla conducted a “stunt,” and the article also included anonymous tweets further mocking Padilla.
