WND Race-Baits Over Cincinnati Brawl

Posted on August 26, 2025

It’s been a while since we’ve seen some good old-fashioned Colin Flaherty-level race-baiting from WorldNetDaily, and Joe Kovacs obliged with a July 27 article unsubtly headlined “Watch whites viciously pummeled by blacks”:

In what’s being called a “disgusting” racial attack, Cincinnati police are investigating a graphic assault by blacks Saturday injuring at least three white people, with the violence documented in disturbing viral videos.

“In the footage, a man, whose identity remains unknown, is repeatedly hit and kicked in the head by multiple people, sending him to the ground. The group of people then continues to assault the man while he lies on the ground,” reports WLWT-TV, the local NBC affiliate.

“At one point, the man can be seen attempting to stand up as the barrage of attacks by the crowd temporarily comes to a stop. He immediately falls over in apparent disorientation, as cars honk their horns for the assembled crowd to move out of the road.

[…]

Alex Jones of Infowars said of the horror: “The left is promoting racial attacks on white people and then covering up the attacks. I am going to continue to expose this garbage. The crime statistics are clear black on white crime is at least 15 to one. Most Black people are not engaged in this activity, but a tiny minority is and the left is covering it up.”

We suspect that Kovacs doesn’t actually agree with Jones’ sentiment that “Most Black people are not engaged in this activity” — remember WND’s history of race-baiting. The next day, Kovacs touted how “Vice President JD Vance on Monday blasted the ‘mob of lawless thugs’ engaged in a ‘really gruesome”‘weekend attack on white people in Cincinnati, as he urged law enforcement to ‘throw their a**es in prison.'” Kovacs then uncritically repeated Vance’s fearmongering in painting cities as lawless:

“We have got to make great American cities safe again for families and children,” Vance concluded.

“If you want to take your wife or your children out for a meal, you shouldn’t be worried about street violence, and the only way to destroy that street violence is to take the thugs who engage in that violence and throw their a**es in prison.”

Kovacs returned for a July 29 update:

As police in Cincinnati announce five arrests have been made in connection with the brutal weekend beating of several white people by an angry mob, the woman seen in a viral video getting knocked unconscious is revealing a disturbing detail.

“Holly said not a single local or state official had yet reached out as of earlier this afternoon, other than one police detective,” said Vivek Ramaswamy, the Republican candidate for Ohio governor, who spoke to the woman whose last name was not provided.

“I spoke to Holly earlier today (the woman tragically assaulted in Cincinnati this weekend),” Ramswamy said on X.

“She’s a single working mom who went to a friend’s birthday party. It’s unconscionable that there were no police present in that area of Cincinnati on a Friday night, or even an ambulance to take her to the hospital.”

Kovacs did hint that all may not be as he has portrayed it by mentioning in passing that one local TV noted that “the incident may have been sparked by ‘racial comments.'”

Kovacs huffed in a July 30 article that “Urgent calls for the firing and arrest of a top Cincinnati councilwoman emerged Wednesday after she allegedly said she was ‘grateful’ for the vicious pummeling of white citizens and that ‘they begged’ to be attacked.” Bob Unruh used a July 31 article to hype that “A state senator in Ohio now has released a photograph of a woman who was brutally beaten in an attack in Cincinnati, an event that has left behind a scandal for a politician who viciously claimed the victim ‘deserved’ the beating,” though unlike Kovacs he managed to avoid playing the race card. But never fear — Kovacs made sure to race-bait again in an Aug. 3 article:

The white woman who was viciously pummeled by blacks in Cincinnati last weekend is now speaking for the first time, while a black pastor in the city is calling for the white victims of the beatdown to be arrested and have their mugshots made public.

“I just want to say thank you to everyone for all of the love and support,” said Holly through tears.

“It is very humbling that to have your prayers, your blessings. It’s definitely what’s keeping me going. And you have just brought back faith in humanity. So God bless you all and thank you.

“I appreciate everything that you’re doing for me and my family. It’s been very, very hard, and I’m still recovering. I still have a very bad brain trauma. Thank you. Thank you everyone.”

A GiveSendGo account has been set up to help Holly, whose last name has not been provided, and it has already raised nearly $160,000.

Meanwhile, here in the real world, it appears that the brawl was fueled by drunkenness, not racism, and there’s no evidence it was anything but an isolated incident. But Kovacs isn’t going to tell you that — he’s too busy helping his fellow right-wingers exploit the brawl to inflame racial tensions for partisan purposes.
