WorldNetDaily does not believe that Muslims have religious rights — it has raged that Muslims have invoked the same federal law Christians use to fight discriminatory zoning laws, and earlier this year it complained about a Muslim-oriented development in Texas. Bob Unruh touted more Texas-based Muslim hate in an Aug. 26 article:
A Republican candidate for Congress in Texas’ 31st district has unleashed a new campaign ad.
In it, Valentina Gomez torches, literally, Islam.
The video shows her applying the business end of a flamethrower to what appears to be a Quran on a pile of stones, without apology and tolerance for “rights.”
“Your daughters will be raped and your sons beheaded unless we stop Islam once and for all,” she explains. “We’re done turning the other check. Remember, David didn’t pray for the lions, he killed them.”
Unruh made sure to stay silent about the criticism of Gomez’s inflammatory and inciting stunt.
By contrast, WND got quite upset when Bibles were burned. For example, Jerry Newcombe complained in an August 2020 column that Bibles were allegedly burned during protests in Portland, Ore., adding that “if one truly believed that black lives matter (or all lives, really), the last book you would want to burn is the Bible.” Michael Brown similarly huffed regarding the burning: “There is something else that is animating these rioters and, as we have argued before, it is not from above but from below.”
WND loves Gomez’s violent stunts. In February 2024, it stole an article from the New York Post touting how Gomez, who was then running for secretary of state in Missouri, similarly torched a pile of library books that she baselessly accused of promoting “grooming.” She got stomped in the Republican primary, receiving only 8 percent of the vote, which apparently caused her to flee to Texas, and in a side note got her brother fired from a city LGBTQ task force in New Jersey.
In an August 2024 article, Joe Kovacs inserted a social-media image of Gomez flying a Trump flag and declaring, “This is about good vs evil.”
