Wayne Allyn Root Departs WND’s Columnist Lineup

Posted on October 12, 2025

WorldNetDaily’s incredible shrinking columnist lineup has shrunk even more: Wayne Allyn Root has apparently gone away. It’s not clear why, given that Root slavishly fulfills WND’s partisan agenda of bashing Democrats and slobbering over Donald Trump. Indeed, he kept up those agenda items before his departure. His Aug. 2 column served up tips for Trump that would “make his achievements permanent, and his legacy lasting”; first on the list is to “Pass voter photo ID for all federal elections,” in which he rehashed never-proven conspiracy theories:

This is how the ball was dropped the last time Trump was president. The GOP Congress had the ability to pass anything they wanted from 2016 to 2018. Yet they never passed voter photo ID for all federal elections. That was the missed opportunity of a lifetime.

That was why the GOP lost the midterms in 2018 and then Trump lost the 2020 presidential election. Democrats stole both elections with mail-in ballots, ballot harvesting and ballot drop boxes. They beat us with fake ballots, all built around no voter ID.

And so far, the GOP is repeating the same mistake. This GOP Congress can pass anything it wants for another 18 months.

If voter photo ID isn’t passed before the 2026 midterms, then the GOP has no interest in winning elections. Period.

Root can’t be bothered to prove any of that, of course.

Root’s final WND column, on Aug. 16, served up his usual nastiness for anyone who’s not as far-right as he is:

My career on American TV spans five decades. I started as a sportscaster and TV host for CNBC in 1989. And of course, I’ve spent the past two decades talking politics on TV.

But few realize I’ve also created and produced several hit reality TV shows – including one of the most successful shows on cable TV for over 20 seasons.

And I have an exciting new reality TV idea. The name of the show is …

“Can White Liberal Journalists Survive a Night on the Streets of Washington, D.C.?”

[…]

Liberals will never learn a lesson just sitting in the back of a police car, protected by armed police, watching other people suffer crime, violence and tragedy.

I have an idea that will really bring home the gravity and reality of the situation.

We need a reality TV show – and keep in mind I’m good at this. The shows I’ve created and produced have all been big TV hits.

My new idea would garner the biggest reality TV audience ever. Americans would tune in by the millions. This might rival Super Bowl ratings!

On my new reality TV show, we drop off white liberal journalists with nice watches, gold chains, wedding bands and wallets of cash, in the middle of Washington, D.C., after dark, and then follow them with cameras as they walk the mean streets of D.C. until sunrise.

Can a white liberal journalist survive a night on the streets of D.C. unscathed? I’m betting no.

I’m betting they wind up like the DOGE employee known as “Big Balls” who was car-jacked and beaten to a pulp just days ago in D.C.

My reality TV show will prove liberals – as always – are wrong about everything.

Perhaps a better idea for a show is for Root to put his money where his mouth is and see if he can survive a night on D.C. streets. Given that crime was decreasing well before Trump launched his military crackdown, he would probably be just fine — just like the white liberals he wants to exploit.

We doubt that concern about Root’s scruples is why he was dropped as a columnist — it is likely a cost-cutting move as WND’s revenue dwindles due to the fact that it has so discredited itself over the years that nobody believes it.
