WND Tries To Portray Transgender People As Evil

Posted on October 23, 2025

We’ve noted how WorldNetDaily moved quickly to obsessing over the apparent transgender identity of the shooter at at Minneapolis church school. From there, WND moved quickly to demonizing all transgender people as evil. Bob Unruh wrote in an Aug. 29 article:

Long have leftists insisted that “thoughts and prayers” have no place in America when there is an eruption of evil, like this week in Minneapolis when a man calling himself a woman shot up a Catholic church, killing two students and injuring many more.

After that shooting at Annunciation Catholic School, multiple Democrats, progressives and others went public with their condemnation of prayer. A Minnesota bishop scolded the Minneapolis mayor for his comments, explaining that’s what is needed at such times.

But now an analysis at the Federalist, from executive editor Joy Pullman, notes that those Democrat talking points are a red flag.

“The New York Post published excerpts of the shooter’s journal posted on YouTube that include a drawing of him communing with a Satanic figure in a mirror. As I’ve written before, Satan-worshippers can be startlingly more direct than many Christians about the connections between their spiritual and political beliefs.

“This image is yet another striking testimony — from the dark side! — about the connections between queer ideology and the demonic. So are passages in the shooter’s journal that read as if they came straight out of the mouth of a demon: ‘I also love when kids get shot, I love to see kids get torn apart.’ Pictures of his arsenal show a gun magazine inscribed with the words: ‘Where is your God?'” she explained.

She continued, “According to reporter Andy Ngo, transgender ghouls are celebrating the attempted mass murder online. The quotes he provides read like a leftist fantasy about what a ‘fundamentalist Christian’ movie script would put in the mouths of trans activists: ‘MORE DEAD CHRISTIANS LOL.’ ‘Based. Take the fight to their kids so they can feel what it’s like to be attacked for your identity.’ ‘Future religious extremeists [sic] dying isn’t a bad thing.’ ‘Won’t someone please think of the poor innocent Christian transphobes that just want trans people dedd??'”

Unruh didn’t deny that right-wing Christians want to eliminate transgender people. Indeed, he spent a Sept. 2 article reinforcing that narrative (while, of course, denying that eliminating transgender people is the plan):

Besides the harm the transgender ideology does to individuals, leaving boys being less than boys and girls less than girls after “treatment,” the lost families and lives, the multiple mass killers that have come from that lifestyle, there is a “threat” to public safety, and “as such, it should be outlawed and eradicated from public life.”

That’s according to an article by John Daniel Davidson, a book author and writer whose work has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, the Claremont Review of Books, the New York Post and more.

He’s now the senior editor at the Federalist, and has delivered an expert opinion on the leftist agenda being pursued across America, despite the opposition from President Donald Trump.

The comments follow by just days the most recent of a long list of trans-identifying individuals who have turned into mass killers, the Annunciation Catholic School shooting in Minneapolis.

“It should be obvious by now that transgenderism — the entire industrial complex of medical interventions, legal actions, social affirmation, and political rhetoric now attached to what was once called gender dysphoria — is a serious threat to public safety,” he wrote.

Individuals are not his target, he said.

“But the gender ideology that affirms them in their delusion should be. Men and women suffering from this cruel delusion should have our compassion, and every effort should be made to bring them back to the reality of their biological sex. Public policy, however, should focus on the ideology of transgenderism and those who perpetrate it. We should treat it the way we treated radical Islamism after 9/11, or communism in the 1950s. It should be understood as a dangerous threat, and anyone advocating or working to advance it should be treated as a criminal and an enemy of the people.”

It was not explain how one eliminates transgender “ideology” (which it is not) without eliminating transgender people. Unruh went on to uncritically repeating Davidson’s hate, including his declaration that “those in the medical community promoting “gender-affirming care” should have their medical licenses revoked “and face criminal prosecution.” and that parents who “facilitate” such treatments for their children “should be treated as child abusers and dealt with accordingly.”

Unruh used a Sept. 4 article to cheer the idea of banning transgender people from owning guns:

Get ready for Democrats and other leftists, who long have called for gun limits, gun restrictions, gun bans and gun confiscations. to start defending the Second Amendment.

It’s because there are reports the Department of Justice is considering the idea of banning transgenders from buying weapons.

After all, they could be argued to fall under existing restrictions on guns for those who have confirmed mental health conditions.

[…]

The reasoning is that those who say they are transgender suffer from gender dysphoria, a mental disorder.

Unruh went on to hype the idea of “a steady stream of transgender-related violence over the past decade,” though he offered no evidence of it beyond the Minneapolis shooting and the shooting at another school in Nashville two years earlier — which WND also obsessed over.

Robert Knight contributed to the transgender-is-evil narrative as well in his Sept. 2 column:

The media’s overall downplaying of the shooter’s gender dysphoria fits their lack of interest in the growing menace of trans-related violence, such as the California-based Zizians transgender cult, which has been blamed for three murders in 2022 and three in 2025.

[…]

Perhaps if Mr. Westman had been counseled to identify with his biological sex, the horror at Annunciation Catholic Church could have been avoided.

[…]

Alas, Minnesota is in the grip of Democrat lawmakers, who banned such counseling.

In March 2023, Minnesota. Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan wore a shirt showing a buck knife with the words: “Protect Trans Kids” at a press conference unveiling Gov. Tim Walz’s executive order declaring Minnesota a “trans refuge” state.

A month later, Walz signed laws banning “conversion therapy,” the left’s pejorative term for reparative therapy to address unwanted sexual desires.

Walz also signed a law protecting access to “gender-affirming care.”

In Minnesota and other Democrat-run states, you can steer kids like Robert Westman into gender confusion, but you can’t help them out of it.

Gender dysphoria is a complex, heart-wrenching experience for sufferers and their families. They deserve compassion and access to tools that could help them, not put them at risk for permanent damage via drugs, hormones and surgeries.

Knight didn’t explain how coerced conversion therapy is in any way “reparative.”
