Along with the rest of the ConWeb, WorldNetDaily did what it could to have meltdowns over New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani. Joe Kovacs gave an opponent a platform in an Oct. 5 article:
With 30 days left until the Nov. 4 Election Day in the high-profile race for New York City mayor, one candidate, former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, says there’s a “civil war” among Democrats sparked by socialists pushing a “national movement” to take over the party.
Appearing on “Sunday Morning Futures” with Maria Bartiromo on the Fox News Channel, Cuomo said Democratic Socialist candidate Zohran Mamdani, is “basically a banner-carrier for socialists.”
“They are anti-business, they are anti-police and that doesn’t work in New York,” Cuomo said.
[…]Cuomo explained: “This is a civil war within the Democratic Party. Remember when the Republican Party had the Tea Party, and that was the extreme right? Well, we have an extreme left and they call themselves the Democratic Socialists.”
This was followed by the usual right-wing attacks and overblown accusations:
- Cease-and-desist: New York Knicks read Mamdani the riot act for implicating affiliation
- ‘New York is cooked’: Watch AOC go on ‘unhinged, screaming rant’ in rally for Zohran Mamdani
- ‘Not isolated incidents’: Criminal referrals filed over Mamdani’s campaign cash
- Mamdani’s mom boasts: He’s ‘not an American at all’
Kovacs spent an Oct. 29 article whining that an actor endorsed Mamdani, with added hysterical reactions to it:
Mandy Patinkin, the Jewish actor most famous for saying, “Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die” in 1987’s “The Princess Bride” film, is now endorsing Zohran Mamdani, the Islamic candidate for New York City mayor.
And not only does Patinkin think the Uganda-born Democratic Socialist he calls an “extraordinary human being” could do a good job running the Big Apple, he believes the Muslim could lead America and the entire world.
In a video posted Tuesday, Patinkin and his wife, actress Kathryn Grody, are seen arm in arm with Mamdani, as Patinkin says: “We are going to win this because we have this extraordinary human being who is going to lead our city, and eventually, if we’re really thinking, our nation and the world to a better, safer and all-inclusive existence. And that’s what I love about this guy.”
[…]Patinkin’s fellow actor Randy Quaid, co-star of the holiday classic “Christmas Vacation,” saw the video, and called Mamdani and Patinkin: “PINKO COMMIES.”
Paul A. Szypula sounded a warning on X, saying: “Actor Mandy Patinkin takes off the mask and reveals that what the far-left really wants is Zohran Mamdani as president.“Forget about the fact that it’s completely unconstitutional since Mamdani is a naturalized citizen. You have to be a natural-born citizen.
“But what Patinkin says is telling, he wants the U.S. and the world to become Muslim. It was never about acceptance, equality, or peace. It was always about jihadists conquering all.
“This is one of many reasons why Mamdani cannot be allowed to win. Whatever legal it takes to stop him needs to happen. Deportation seems plausible.”
Josh Hammer raged in a Nov. 1 column:
In just a few days, a Karl Marx-quoting communist who has struggled to disavow Hamas is likely to be elected the next mayor of the nation’s financial and cultural epicenter. Thirty-three-year-old New York state Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani has surged to the front of the race. He leads by double digits in virtually every public poll, he is an overwhelming favorite in the online betting markets.
Absent a miracle, in short, Mamdani is going to win and will be the next mayor of New York City. But one might be forgiven for believing in the possibility of miracles. Mamdani must, somehow, be rejected – and if he prevails, the grave consequences will extend far beyond the Big Apple.
[…]But perhaps the most urgent warning is this: If New York elects a Marxist mayor and the city collapses further into crime, exodus and dysfunction, it will not necessarily be leftists who pay the price. It will be working-class families, small-business owners, commuters and the millions who still believe in the American promise – the spirit so perfectly embodied by the Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor.
The long-odds necessity, at this late hour, of rejecting Mamdani is thus not merely a municipal judgment for the Big Apple. Either former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo or Curtis Sliwa, Mamdani’s two opponents on the ballot this coming Tuesday, simply must drop out immediately to give the other a fighting chance at pulling off an upset. Because this mayoral election is a referendum on whether New York will reclaim the virtues that built it – discipline, aspiration, enterprise and law – or surrender to the fantasies of far-left utopianism.
If voters choose Mamdani, New York loses. And with it, America risks losing a little more of its dynamism – and its soul.
Kovacs touted a lame, last-minute endorsement in a Nov. 3 article:
On the eve of Election Day in New York City, President Donald Trump urged citizens of the Big Apple to vote – not for Republican Curtis Sliwa, but for Democrat-turned-Independent Andrew Cuomo, as he does not wish “Communist Candidate Zohran Mamdani” to be the next mayor.
“A vote for Curtis Sliwa (who looks much better without the beret!) is a vote for Mamdani,” Trump said Monday on Truth Social.
“Whether you personally like Andrew Cuomo or not, you really have no choice. You must vote for him, and hope he does a fantastic job. He is capable of it, Mamdani is not!”
Trump gave a lengthy explanation for his plea, saying: “If Communist Candidate Zohran Mamdani wins the Election for Mayor of New York City, it is highly unlikely that I will be contributing Federal Funds, other than the very minimum as required, to my beloved first home, because of the fact that, as a Communist, this once great City has ZERO chance of success, or even survival!
“It can only get worse with a Communist at the helm, and I don’t want to send, as President, good money after bad. It is my obligation to run the Nation, and it is my strong conviction that New York City will be a Complete and Total Economic and Social Disaster should Mamdani win.
Kovacs didn’t explain how it was legal for Trump to cut off federal money to New York City simply because he personally doesn’t like the mayor.
