WorldNetDaily and the Media Research Center are such aggressive Trump Regime Media operations that they’ll defend anything he does — no matter how dumb or racist. So when Trump posted a video of House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries with a sombrero and stereotype mustache superimposed on him, it had to be defended.
A Sept. 30 WND article described the video benignly:
After he participated in a meeting with Democrats about the current government-funding crisis, President Trump posted a video of Congress’ top two Democrats, Rep. Hakeem Jefferies and Sen. Chuck Schumer, addressing the media outside the White House.
But it includes a different look for Jeffries and some altered words coming from Schumer.
The next day, WND posted a video of Vice President J.D. Vance under the condescending headline “Veep explains meme humor to White House reporter,” with a subhead quote from him: “I think it’s funny. The president’s joking and we’re having a good time.”
The Media Research Center’s Clay Waters made his contribution in an Oct. 4 post grousing that a news show on PBS “mildly addressed the ‘deepfake’ video circulated by Trump showing Jeffries in a Mexican sombrero and stereotypical bushy mustache.” When one of the hosts called the video “racist” and asked “how is that fun? What’s the joke there?” Waters huffed whataboutism in response: “Where was the alleged ‘joke’ found by the media in Kimmel’s nasty lie about Charlie Kirk’s killer?”
The headline of Waters’ post reads, “PBS Defunded of Humor Too?” But Waters never explained what was supposed to be funny about Trump’s racist video or why it purportedly isn’t racist — which is why he immediately went to whataboutism rather than actually addressing the issue. It also seems to suggest that he’s cool with that kind of racism.
