One WND Writer Cranks Out Trump Stenography On Epstein, While Another Details His Flip-Flop

Posted on February 3, 2026

WorldNetDaily has been bothered by the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, but it didn’t go too far in defending President Trump’s role in it. That seems to have changed in a Nov. 6 article by Bob Unruh:

A stunning new report charges that Maureen Comey, a former federal prosecutor and daughter of the infamous ex-FBI chief James Comey, now under indictment for lying to Congress, once promised convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein that he would walk away from pending charges if he would implicate President Donald Trump in crimes.

It happened during Trump’s first term, when Maureen Comey still was a federal prosecutor for the Department of Justice, a job she no longer holds.

Her father, of course, was one of the schemers behind the Democrats’ years-long lawfare against President Trump, with roles in various cases created by Democrats to try to bring down the Republican candidate, then president.

A report from the New York Post explained the testimony is from Nicholas Tartaglione, an ex-cop who was a cellmate with Epstein for a time.

[…]

The report also notes that Tartaglione said Epstein told him Trump “was not involved” in Epstein’s crimes.

Unruh didn’t mention that Tartaglione murdered four men and is serving a life sentence, or that he reportedly tried to strangle Epstein, or that he’s seeking a pardon from Trump.

A Nov. 12 article by Unruh went the full Trump stenography route:

President Donald Trump has blasted Democrats for using the “Jeffrey Epstein Hoax” to try to distract Americans from their campaign of “viciously closing our Country,” through their weeks-long refusal to approve continuing resolution funding for federal employees and programs.

Democrats repeatedly have tried to smear Trump with an association with the late, convicted sex offender.

Trump knew Epstein, but they had a falling out years ago, long before many of the antics that have been ascribed to Epstein developed.

At the same time, Democrats have more or less ignored Democrat names, like Bill Clinton, whose friendship with Epstein is well documented.

In fact, one of Epstein’s victims, the late Virginia Guiffre, said in a sworn statement that she never saw Trump involved in anything inappropriate.

Unruh did not explain why he was working so hard to downplay Trump’s relationship with Epstein.

Thte next day, Unruh served up with unverified gossip:

It may be true. Or not.

But a stunner has been found in the release of convicted sex offender Jeff Epstein’s emails.

One says it is his opinion that Hillary Clinton was “doing naughties with Vince,” presumably the suicided Vince Foster.

Unruh went on to repeat conspiracy theories about Foster’s death.

Joe Kovacs returned to the old script, however, by recounting Trump’s flip-flop on releasing the Epstein files ina Nov. 17 article:

After initially calling people urging the release of files on convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein “stupid” and “foolish,” President Donald Trump has pulled a 180 and is now making a fresh call to make all the files public.

In a lengthy Truth Social post Sunday night, Trump said: “House Republicans should vote to release the Epstein files, because we have nothing to hide, and it’s time to move on from this Democrat Hoax perpetrated by Radical Left Lunatics in order to deflect from the Great Success of the Republican Party, including our recent Victory on the Democrat ‘Shutdown.’

“The Department of Justice has already turned over tens of thousands of pages to the Public on ‘Epstein,’ are looking at various Democrat operatives (Bill Clinton, Reid Hoffman, Larry Summers, etc.) and their relationship to Epstein, and the House Oversight Committee can have whatever they are legally entitled to, I DON’T CARE!

[…]

Trump’s new position on the files is the exact opposite of his stance in July, when he unleashed a furious tirade against his own supporters who sought the files, saying he no longer wants their support.

“I don’t want their support anymore!” Trump exclaimed on Truth Social.

“My PAST supporters have bought into this ‘bullsh**,’ hook, line, and sinker.”

Kovacs followed the next day with an article claiming that “A powerful public service announcement featuring survivors of Jeffrey Epstein was aired during ABC’s broadcast of ‘Monday Night Football,’ just ahead of the U.S. House vote Tuesday on releasing the files probing the Palm Beach pedophile.” This article didn’t mention Trump at all.
