WND Miffed That Democrats Won Their Elections

Posted on February 9, 2026

Zohran Mamdani wasn’t the only non-right-wing candidate WorldNetDaily freaked out about during November’s elections. Bob Unruh defended the government shutdown while hurling right-wing buzzwords in a Nov. 4 article:

U.S. Rep. Mikie Sherrill, a Democrat on the ballot to be governor in New Jersey, has proven to be reluctant to admit the obvious and face facts.

After the Democrats in the U.S. Senate demanded the Republican party reach into taxpayers’ pockets for $1.5 trillion for benefits for illegal aliens, Obamacare subsidies and leftist propaganda machines, the GOP declined and the Democrats sent the government into the now-record Schumer Shutdown.

Republicans had wanted a continuing resolution that effectively left government spending at its current levels. Multiple Republicans have confirmed they’ll work with Democrats on their agenda points once the government reopens.

Despite the obvious reason for the shutdown, Sherrill claimed it was the Republicans who didn’t agree.

“Washington Republicans have once again shown they’re willing to turn their backs on the American people in order to blindly follow Donald Trump’s demands. Instead of working with Democrats to lower costs, protect health care, and support working people, Washington Republicans bent the knee to Donald Trump, shutting down the government in the process,” she issued in a wildly out-of-touch statement.

Unruh offered no reason he insisted that criticizing Trump is “wildly out-of-touch.” He continued to whine:

It seems Sherrill also is out of touch with Supreme Court precedent.

It’s because she says parents should have no rights to opt their children about of offensive LGBT lessons that violate their religious faith.

The Supreme Court just weeks ago, in fact, confirmed that a school district in Montgomery County, Maryland, must allow parents to opt children out of those lessons if they want.

The district had been forcing those lessons on all children.

Sherrill said parents shouldn’t be allowed to take their kids out of classes that teach lessons violating their faith.

Unruh didn’t explain why it’s “offensive” for youths to learn that people are different, or did he explain how such an instruction is “brainwashing.”

When Sherrill won her race, Joe Kovacs groused later that day:

In the heated race for New Jersey governor, Democrat Mikie Sherrill defeated Republican Jack Ciattarelli Tuesday night.

Sherrill, a U.S. congresswoman and former Navy helicopter pilot collected about 57% of the vote compared to 42.6% for the GOP businessman who was endorsed by President Donald Trump.

[…]

Sherrill raised eyebrows recently when she was confronted about making $7 million in stock trades, suggesting she was not aware of the claim.

“I don’t believe I did, but I’d have to go see what that was alluding to,” she said.

Kovacs did not explain who, outside the right-wing bubble, “raised eyebrows” over this attack on Sherrill.

Unruh complained of another Democratic statewide candiate in a Sept. 29 article:

[Jonathan] Turley, the Shapiro Professor of Public Interest Law and George Washington University, explained in his column that now a prominent Democrat is calling for more rage.

“Let your rage fuel you,” were the words coming from Abigail Spanberger, who is running for governor as a Democrat in Virginia.

Turley recalled the words, in a Star Wars movie, from the series-long bad guy, Darth Sidious , the evil emperor, who said, “Give in to your anger. With each passing moment, you grow stronger.”

[…]

He warned, “Across the country, politicians and pundits are fueling rage, encouraging voters to embrace it.”

And he said, “Rage, however, comes at a cost in politics.”

Neither Unruh nor Turley discussed the rage inciters on their side.

When Spanberger won, Kovacs grumbled in another Nov. 4 article:

Democrat Abigail Spanberger has won the race for governor in Virginia, easily defeating Republican Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears.

[…]

The Republican Earle-Sears previously said in 2022 that she “could not support” Donald Trump ahead of the 2024 presidential election, which Trump eventually won.

Kovacs did not explain how the commonsense view that Trump delegitimized himself through his incitement of the 2021 Capitol riot and his pretending the 2020 election was stolen from him disqualified Winsome-Sears, nor did he elaborate on his view in the subhead that Spanberger is a “supporter of transgender rights.”

Kovacs joined the Media Research Center in whining that a certain disfavored Democratic candidate won his election in yet another Nov. 4 article:

Jay Jones, the Democrat who ignored numerous calls to drop out after fantasizing about murdering Republicans and their children, has won the race for attorney general in Virginia, the state’s top cop.

Jones, who collected 50.9% of the vote, ousted Republican incumbent Jason Miyares, who received 49.1 % and had been endorsed by President Donald Trump.

Journalist Benny Johnson highlighted the murderous texts from Jones, and said, “Democrats in Virginia saw these texts from Jay Jones and decided ‘yup, he has my vote!'”

“Truly evil. You can’t live in a country with people that want you dead.”

There was no discussion of how toxic President Trump has left the Republican Party to the point where people like Jones can win their elections.
