WorldNetDaily has spent years relying on Jill Biden’s ex-husband, Bill Stevenson — who has been divorced from Biden since 1975 — to serve up supposedly juicy tidbits about the Bidens. We’ve noted how WND called on Stevenson to opine on Biden quitting the presidential race, baselessly blaming Jill for keeping him in. There was also a 2023 article that credulously quoted Stevenson as claiming that ha “accused the Joe ‘Biden Crime family’ of threatening him to win divorce concessions for her, and ultimately using the corrupted legal system to punish him when he fought them in court. Bob Unruh summarized Stevenson’s non-relationship with the Bidens in a July 2024 article:
It was Jill Biden’s first husband, Bill Stevenson, who ripped Jill Biden, to whom he was married 1970-1975, for insisting that Joe Biden stay in the election.
Stevenson, of Delaware, is an ardent Trump supporter who married the first lady when she was still a college student. He supported Biden when he ran for the U.S. Senate in 1972 and when Biden ran as vice president with Barack Obama. He has since been vocal with his contempt for what he has at times called “the Biden crime family.”
“I just don’t understand why she is so adamant about defending him and keeping him in the race since it appears that he’s struggling,” Stevenson said.
He added, “She’s always been very driven. People say she’s the one who wants to be president now.”
Earlier, when Joe Biden was named the Democratic nominee in 2020, Stevenson charged Jill and Joe Biden’s relationship began as an affair.
“It makes me cringe every time he calls Trump a liar because I’m telling you right now, there is no better liar than President Biden,” Stevenson said. “He’s just a bad person. I’m probably one of the few people outside his family who has known him for 50 years.”
Larry Elder wrote in a Nov. 6 column:
Biden claims to have met wife Jill on a blind date. The Washington Times, however, wrote: “Bill Stevenson, a prominent Delaware rock-venue owner who was married to Jill from 1970-76, has told media outlets that she met Mr. Biden during his 1972 campaign for Senate, before the accident, and that they later had an affair that broke up the Stevenson marriage.” The Bidens deny this.
Yep, Stevenson sounds like quite a piece of work, all too willing to trash the man his ex-wife married because she dumped him. Which makes recent events quite interesting, as summarized in an anonymously written Dec. 30 article:
The wife of Jill Biden’s ex-husband, whom the former first lady married in 1970 and divorced in 1974, has been pronounced dead after a police team responded to an alleged call about a domestic dispute, according to a terse report posted by TMZ.
It explained Linda Stevenson was found unresponsive in her living room over the weekend.
She was pronounced dead there.
Linda Stevenson was married to Bill Stevenson, who had been married to the now-Jill Biden for those few years before Jill married then-Senator Joe Biden.
The rest of the article is Bill Stevenson recounting how Jill supposedly done him wrong, and feels like Jill is being set up to be the killer. In fact, the accused killer is someone quite familiar to WND, so Unruh sought to draw attention elsewhere for a Feb. 3 article:
In a case about which little information is being released publicly, the ex-husband of former First Lady Jill Biden now is facing murder charges for the death of his wife.
A report from Delaware’s News Journal said an indictment has been released naming William “Bill” Stevenson in the death of 64-year-old Linda Stevenson.
She was found unresponsive in her Elsmere-area home in December.
[…]Stevenson was married to Jill Biden in 1970 and they divorced in 1975.
Shortly after, Jill married Joe Biden.
Stevenson later married Linda, and they had one daughter.
Her cause and manner of death have not been released.
That’s right — Unruh cares more about the lack of information abotut he case than about the case itself. He also made sure not to repeat the lengthy detail about Stevenson and Biden that was toutted in the December article.
We could assume that WND feels bad about using an accused murderer as a key source on the Bidens, but we’re not sure WND is capable of feeling that kind of shame. And if Stevenson really is capable of murder, it seems like Jill got out at the right time.
