“The View” wasn’t the only target of year-end rage at the Media Research Center — this was an organization-wide effort. For instance, a Dec. 17 post by Geoffrey Dickens huffed:
It was a challenging task, but an esteemed panel led by MRC President David Bozell and MRC’s Vice President for Research and Publications Brent Baker, which included NewsBusters Executive Editor Tim Graham, MRC Director of Media Analysis Geoffrey Dickens and NewsBusters Managing Editor Curtis Houck, boiled down all the biased outbursts from lefty hack hosts, anchors, reporters and pundits in 2025 and declared a winner.
This year the winner is Matthew Dowd!
The ex-MSNBC contributor won for his despicable take in the immediate aftermath of the assassination of Charlie Kirk. Dowd speculated that the shooter might have been a Kirk “supporter shooting off their gun in celebration” and went on to disparage the TPUSA founder as a “divisive” figure who pushed “hate speech.” Dowd – who was fired – also seemed to blame Kirk: “hateful words….lead to hateful actions.”
This was joined in the following days by a torrent of year-end hate:
- WORST OF 2025: The Trashing Trump Award
- WORST OF 2025: The ICE Breakers Award for Bashing Deportations
- WORST OF 2025: The Craziest Analysis Award
- WORST OF 2025: The Celebrity Freak-Out Award
- WORST OF 2025: The Damn Those Conservatives Award
Alex Christy cranked out his own series of year-end awards:
- 2025’s Worst 10 Moments From The Late Night Comedy Shows
- The 10 Worst Moments From Late Night Comedy Guests In 2025
- The Worst 10 ‘Fact’ Checks Of 2025
The top result in that fact-check list was FactCheck.org’s pointing out that President Trump’s executive order on sex and gender went after intersex people, to which Christy huffed: “Intersex is not a third sex. Reasonable people can understand that intersex people exist and are separate from the transgender debate, but this has nothing to do with the executive order.”
In addition, the MRC’s nepo-baby chief, David Bozell, went on a right-wing radio show “to break down the elitist media’s most outrageous quotes of the year as part of the MRC’s annual Worst Quote of the Year award, which spotlights the most egregious or biased statements in the media.” Apparently, there are no elitists in right-wing media.
Tim Graham made his year-end contribution regarding ratings, gushing in a Dec. 30 post how “Fox News scored its highest ratings for the year ever for a non-election year, second only to 2020.” while trashing the competition: “The only thing that can be said for MS NOW is that it’s doing better than CNN in overall viewers, but it managed to do worse than CNN in the demo.”
