We’ve documented how former CNSNews.com editor Terry Jeffrey resurfaced at Newsmax to peddle his columns. He wrote in a Dec. 22 column:
It took more than two centuries — from 1776 to 1986 — for this nation’s federal debt to hit $2 trillion.
But this year, it took less than 11 months for the federal government to add another $2 trillion to a federal debt that now exceeds $38 trillion.
On Dec. 31, 2024, the last business day of last year, the federal debt closed at $36,218,605,311,689.91, according to the Treasury Department’s “Debt to the Penny” webpage.
On Nov. 18, 2025, it hit $38,265,355,580,035.02.
Thus, in just 10 months and 18 days, the federal debt increased by $2,046,750,268,345.11.
That makes 2025 the third straight calendar year that the federal debt has increased by more than $2 trillion, according to the data published by the Treasury Department.
Jeffrey didn’t mention who has been president during 2025: Donald Trump. He similarly refused to admit Trump’s role in contributing to the federal deficit during his first term.
Jeffrey groused in his Jan. 21 column:
On Jan. 8, the Republican-controlled House took up a 407-page spending bill.
It funded multiple federal departments and agencies, including the departments of Commerce, Justice, Energy and the Interior, and also the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers civil works projects, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Forest Service, and the Indian Health Service.
In total, according to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), the bill authorized $215,073,000,000 in spending.
Large bipartisan coalitions in both houses supported this spending. In the House, it passed 397-28 — with 206 Democratic supporters and 191 Republicans. On Jan. 15, it passed 82-15 in the Senate — with 46 Republican supporters and 36 Democrats.
After it passed, numerous Democratic senators put out statements to applaud the earmarks it included for their state.
“I’m also proud to once again work with countless Wisconsin communities in every corner of the state to deliver direct federal support for projects that address their specific needs,” said Sen. Tammy Baldwin, D-Wis.
Jeffrey failed to mention the millions of dollars in earmarks obtained by Republican members of Congress. Politico pointed out: “Now Republicans run Washington once again, and they’re overwhelmingly embracing the renaissance. As the Senate considers a nearly $1.3 trillion funding package this week loaded with thousands of earmarks for projects in specific congressional districts, fiscal hawks are acknowledging defeat.” Politico noted as an example Republican Rep. Mike Flood of Nebraska, who obtained almost $30 million in projects for his district.
Instead, he groused that “Democrats are continuing to insert self-serving earmarks into spending bills approved by a Republican-majority Congress.”
It looks like Jeffrey is keeping up his partisan omission of information that makes his fellow right-wiungers look bad — just like he did at CNS.
