WND Hides That Noem Was Fired As DHS Secretary, Then Targets Her Husband

Posted on June 9, 2026

Bob Unruh wrote in a March 5 WorldNetDaily article:

President Donald [Trump] has appointed a new chief of the Department of Homeland and named the current chief, former South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, as a special envoy.

Trump said, on social media, “I am pleased to announce that the Highly Respected United States Senator from the Great State of Oklahoma, Markwayne Mullin, will become the United States Secretary of Homeland Security (DHS), effective March 31, 2026. The current Secretary, Kristi Noem, who has served us well, and has had numerous and spectacular results (especially on the Border!), will be moving to be Special Envoy for The Shield of the Americas, our new Security Initiative in the Western Hemisphere we are announcing on Saturday in Doral, Florida. I thank Kristi for her service at ‘Homeland.’

[…]

Noem took over the DHS when Trump was elected and has worked to implement his priorities, including border security and a crackdown on scofflaws who violate America’s immigration and border laws.

Because that conflicts with the agenda held by leftists and progressives, and used as a national policy under Joe Biden, to facilitate illegal aliens’ access to America, she has repeatedly come under fire for her work at the department.

What you won’t find in Unruh’s article: the fact that Trump fired Noem. He did, though, embed a social media post claiming that “Trump was reportedly angered by Noem’s testimony that Trump approved her $200M DHS ad campaign.” Which may the first time that scandal has graced the pages of WND.

But with Noem out of the Trump White House, WND felt it could safely dump on her. Joe Kovacs wrote in a March 10 article:

Hoover Institution senior fellow Victor Davis Hanson says he’s “baffled” by the transformation of former U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, saying she “morphed into an urban creature” in the Trump administration, and “there were these accusations that she was having an affair.”

[…]

“I think she was a congressional representative before she became governor. And I saw a picture in 2015 or something with her husband,” Hanson explained.

“She had no makeup on. She had kind of a shag haircut, short haircut. Fresh face. They were very intimate. I don’t mean in the sexual sense, but, you know, close … She looked happy. She looked unaffected.”

“And to see her today with those long extensions and facial surgery – it’s sad. And she was a very effective governor,” he said. “So something happened, and that happened might be something connected with higher prominence, money – I don’t know what it was, attention – but she needs to get back to her original roots as a Dakotan and a family, you know, wife and kids,” he added.

Kovacs also let Noem deny she was having an affair:

The relationship between Noem and Lewandowski – both of whom are married to other people – has been the topic of previous speculation, yet each has denied allegations of a rumored affair.

The New York Post reported Friday that family members of Kristi’s husband Bryon Noem “are hoping he finally leaves his wife … after the ultimate ‘humiliation’ from her alleged affair with a top adviser – but predict he’ll continue to stay in his marriage due to his Christian faith and commitment to his vows.”

“He said he decided about 20 years ago that it was his calling from God to support her in whatever she decided to do,” one family member said. “So he has put up with the humiliation. We will see if he sticks with her now.”

“I think it’s him honoring the calling from God,” the family member added. “But it seems like there would be some limit to that.”

Kovacs then piled on Noem’s husband in a March 31 article:

An explosive report Tuesday by Britain’s Daily Mail claims Bryon Noem, the husband of former DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, is “a secret crossdresser who dons gigantic fake breasts and pink hotpants to chat with online fetish models.”

“The Daily Mail has reviewed hundreds of messages involving three women from the ‘bimbofication’ scene – where porn performers transform themselves into real-life Barbie dolls by pumping colossal amounts of saline into their breasts,” the paper indicated.

Kovacs gave no indication he verified the report — merely rewriting it for WND consumption. Still, he followed up with an April 7 article — also apparently unverified — claiming that “a new report alleges Bryon Noem bankrolled an OnlyFans model’s extravagant lifestyle, even paying for a bigger chest enhancement for her while seeking to make her his ‘bimbo bride.'” Kovacs added:

Journalist Laura Loomer, an ally of President Donald Trump, is casting doubt on that.

“Kristi Noem said her family is blindsided by revelations her husband is a cross dresser and gay. That isn’t true,” Loomer said. “She knew all about her husband which is why she lives with Corey Lewandowski in the DC area.”

“That’s why her husband never divorced her. It was their arrangement. Literally everyone in the admin has known this forever. I’m shocked it didn’t come out earlier. They can divorce and move on and live their lives without keeping secrets. I feel bad for Corey’s wife. She is the widow of a firefighter who was killed on 9/11.”

Kovacs apparently didn’t fact-check that either. Noem is no longer in the Trump inner circle, she she’s fair game as far is WND is concerned.
