WND Hides Response In Latest Attack On Mark Kelly

Posted on July 31, 2026

Joe Kovacs wrote in a May 11 WorldNetDaily article:

U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth says Sen. Mark Kelly, D-Ariz., is now under legal investigation for a possible violation of his oath by leaking classified details about U.S. weapons stockpiles during a Sunday interview on CBS’ “Face the Nation.”

“The numbers are, I think it’s fair to say, it’s shocking how deep we have gone into these magazines,” Kelly told anchor Margaret Brennan. “We’ve expended a lot of munitions and that means the American people are less safe.”

“The munitions are depleted. You may have seen me ask the secretary of defense this question about how long it’s gonna take to replenish. We’re talking about years.”

Brennan herself highlighted Kelly’s comments on X, writing: “After hearing the Pentagon classified brief on Iran war impact on US weapons stockpiles, Senator Mark Kelly says it is ‘shocking how deep we have gone into these magazines.’

“He said the Tomahawks, ATACMS, SM-3, THAAD rounds, Patriot rounds, so those interceptor rounds to defend ourselves have been hit hard. He says it’ll take years to replenish those stockpiles, which could affect a hypothetical US conflict with China.”

Kelly’s remarks are not sitting well with Hegseth, who announced: “‘Captain’ Mark Kelly strikes again. Now he’s blabbing on TV (falsely & dumbly) about a *CLASSIFIED* Pentagon briefing he received.

“Did he violate his oath … again? @DeptofWar legal counsel will review.”

Kovacs omitted the fact that Kelly responded to Hegseth’s remarks by posting a clip of Hegseth testifying about depleted stockpiles at a congressional hearing: “We had this conversation in a public hearing a week ago and you said it would take “years” to replenish some of these stockpiles. That’s not classified, it’s a quote from you. This war is coming at a serious cost and you and the president still haven’t explained to the American people what the goal is.”

Kovacs then rehashed old news:

As WorldNetDaily reported in February, Hegseth through the Department of Justice has appealed a court ruling that protects Kelly who, along with numerous other Democrats, engaged in what has been described as “seditious” talk.

The fight over the comments by Kelly and others suggesting President Donald Trump was issuing “illegal” orders has been escalated to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia.

Kovacs made no mention of the fact that WND spent years insisting that Obama’s military orders were, in fact, illegal by egging on military man and birther obsessive Terry Lakin’s failed quest to refuse legal military orders by Obama.
