WorldNetDaily writer Joe Kovacs loves it when President Trump lashes out at reporters he doesn’t like — while hiding the reporters’ response to him. He did so again in a June 3 article:
President Donald Trump demolished CNN’s Kaitlan Collins more than once on Wednesday after the White House correspondent continually interrupted the commander in chief in the Oval Office.
After Collins asked a question about the end of the fund reimbursing victims of Joe Biden’s weaponization of the Justice Department, Trump said: “People like you have abused our people so badly. The fake news like CNN, like the New York Times and like others, have abused our people.”
Collins attempted to ask another question when she was instantly shot down by the president.
“Wait a minute. Be quiet,” Trump said.
“You should be ashamed of yourself. You used to be a conservative from Alabama. She used to be a conservative from Alabama. Can you believe it?”
Collins interjected: “I’m still from Alabama.”
Trump continued: “In particular CNN does such false reporting, but now they have new ownership, so maybe it’ll straighten it out. I doubt it. But it’s hard to straighten garbage out.”
Kovacs didn’t mention that Collins responded to Trump’s attack, pointing out that she had yet to even ask a question. He continued:
Trump kept the verbal onslaught coming against Collins and her network, saying: “CNN’s a very corrupt organization with a corrupt reporter standing right there. [She] never smiles. A young, beautiful woman, never smiles! I never see a smile on her face.
“I see her standing there with hatred in her eyes. She has hatred because we have borders, because have a strong military, because we cut our taxes, because we do things that everybody wanted. And then we win our election in a massive landslide.”
Kovacs made no attempt to fact-check Trump — indeed, he went on to insert his own falsehood in noting “the massive crowd that showed up to hear him on Jan. 20, 2021, the infamous day riots broke out at the U.S. Capitol.” That, of course, would be Jan. 6, 2021. He went on to uncritically parrot Trump:
“There was so much love and friendship. It was the most amazing thing. People were crying.”
Collins interrupted the president again, saying: “But Republicans on the Hill were upset that …”
Trump squelched the reporter, telling Collins forcefully: “Let me finish. Let me FINISH. LET ME FINISH!”
Kovacs also rehashed an Trump attack on Collins in February — and he similarly refused to admit that Collins responded to that attack too, or that the attack was widely criticized.
