WorldNetDaily keeps up its meltdowns over New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani in an April 24 article by Bob Unruh:
Democrat socialist Zohran Mamdani as a candidate for New York City mayor was loved by far-left residents of East Village. They gave him a 40-point election vote margin.
But actually as mayor, doing the job for a few months?
They’re suing him.
And social media has noticed the abrupt reversal.
A report at Fox News cited how his supporters “turn on him.”
Their lawsuit follows his decision to install a shelter operation in their neighborhood.
“News of the lawsuit has prompted conservative mockery online, with figures like Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, noting the irony of Mamdani’s supporters turning on the fruits of his administration. ‘Oops,’ Sen. Ted Cruz said in a post to X.”
Unruh offered no evidence the exact same people who are suing over the shelter also voted for Mamdani.
The same day, Unruh groused:
New Yorkers recently elected Zohran Mamdani, a self-proclaimed Democrat Socialist, mayor, and the results of their choice now are becoming evident.
For one, residents of one neighborhood who supported him by a 40% margin now are suing because he wants to locate a homeless shelter in their neighborhood.
For another, a huge money player on Wall Street is threatening to kill a planned $6 billion deal after a clash with Mamdani.
The Daily Mail said the deal involves plans by Ken Griffin’s Citadel LLC, and is because Mamdani lashed out at him specifically in promoting one of his many new tax plans.
Unruh did admit that “Griffin’s primary residence is Florida, despite his massive property in New York.” but he didn’t explain why a secondary residence shouldn’t be taxed more. He also failed to note that the $238 million Griffin paid for the penthouse made it the most expensive home ever sold in the United States. This all ended up being scare tactics anyway because Griffin ultimately went forward with his redevelopment.
An anonymously written May 18 article stated:
In a Monday event promoting his government-run grocery stores, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani countered conservative icon President Ronald Reagan, attempting to replace the Gipper’s famous “nine most terrifying words in the English language.”
In 1986, Reagan, arguing against federal manipulation in the farming industry, intoned those nine horrifying words: “I’m from the government, and I’m here to help.”
Referring, to Reagan’s quote, Mamdani said, “It’s a good quote, but I disagree.” The mayor then suggested an even more terrifying nine-word quote: “I think nine more terrifying words are actually, ‘I worked all day and can’t feed my family.'”
WND did not explain why Mamdani’s quote wasn’t terrifying. Instead, it tried to discredit Mamdani’s agenda to create city-run grocery stores:
Mamdani was celebrating the announcement of his second city-run grocery store, in the Bronx. The 20,000-square foot store is expected to open next year. The first store announced, in East Harlem, is not expected to open until after the one in the Bronx is completed.
While government-subsidized commerce has never worked as intended, and related abuse of the SNAP program is becoming more prevalent, Mamdani is convinced his model will help address “food insecurity” in the Big Apple.
No evidence was offered that this would be the case in New York City.
Unruh returned to serve up another anti-Mamdani tirade in a May 26 article:
New York’s Democrat Socialist mayor, Zohran Mamdani, worked as a housing counselor, and a rapper, so he knows the topics on which he’s commenting.
When he announced plans to take properties from their owners and give them to tenants.
But it all will be legal, of course. In fact, “aggressive” legal.
He’s just announced a plan to address housing in New York City.
He said, “Through our new citywide campaign, fix the city, we will focus on the worst landlords in New York City. When necessary we will take aggressive legal action to remove negligent owners and property managers. And for buildings that have suffered chronic neglect, we will work to transfer ownership to responsible stewards. Steward that include community land trusts, nonprofits, or even the tenants themselves.”
Not the Bee reported, “If this actually happens, New Yorkers will be glad the Second Amendment exists.”
Unruh failed to call out Not the Bee’s implicit death threat against Mamdani — he just treated it as normal. He also failed to note that Mamdani’s initiative would target landlords who have neglected properties, not all landlords.
