The Media Research Center has always hated the show “black-ish” for talking about racial issues in a way that deviates from her mandated right-wing narratives — which, in the MRC’s eyes, makes the show “racist” (the same dichotomy the MRC’s resident liar Nicholas Fondacaro has forced upon “The View” co-host Sunny Hostin). Indeed, an August 2021 post by Dawn Slusher called the show “racist” in the midst of whining about its spinoff, “grown-ish,” over an episode that was allegedly “depicting cops as racist predators in a system that is ‘determined to destroy’ innocent black people who have “targets on (their) backs.” Slusher, of course, tried to defend the cops as not really that bad: “And if all of these claims were true, if police were all really evil racists out to destroy innocent black people, wouldn’t the list of names be endless and not need to include justified shootings and situations that weren’t police shootings at all added to it to make it look longer?”
Indeed, Slusher (and other hate-watching MRC writers) spewed the same animosity toward “grown-ish” that her employer has at “black-ish”:

- ‘Black-ish’ Spinoff: ‘Racist-A** Cops’ ‘Determined to Destroy’ and ‘Murder’ Innocent Black People
- Freeform Sitcom Justifies Looting, Arson and Riots at BLM Protests: ‘So Be It’
- Freeform ‘Comedy’ Demands Reparations for Blacks Because World ‘Appropriates’

- Tolerance on Display: Freeform Sitcom ‘grown-ish’ Hates on ‘Conservative’ for Her Beliefs (ironic, since Slusher clearly hates anyone or any show that’s not as right-wing as she is)
- Freeform’s Racist Comedy ‘grown-ish’ Vilifies Black Conservatives Candace Owens and Herschel Walker (again, Slusher’s complaints didn’t age well)
Slusher concluded that last post by huffing, “Thankfully this is the last season for grown-ish, though it’s divided into two parts, so they’ll unfortunately still be spewing their leftist propaganda in 2024.” Indeed, she served up an April 4 post on the finale that was more of the same:
The last of Anthony Anderson’s -ish franchises, grown-ish, has returned to finish out its sixth and final season, and they’re making sure to go out with an anti-white, racist bang. It’s not surprising considering their long, ugly history of hatred towards white people, which can be found in every-ish show ever made.
Wednesday’s episode, “Lost Ones,” featured two main storylines, both of which were sure to include anti-white dialogue.
[…]Enough with the racism! Can you imagine if they were using anti-black food stereotypes for jokes instead? That would obviously be incredibly wrong and definitely not worthy of laughs.
So, why do the writers think it’s okay to do it to white people? Their double standards are tiresome. But, as we all know, if Hollywood didn’t have double standards, they wouldn’t have any standards at all.
Y’know, Dawn, maybe this show isn’t for you. You’re clearly not the target audience for this show, and it’s highly unlikely you would watch it at all if you weren’t getting paid to do so for the sole purpose of spewing hate at it in order to generate clicks from you fellow right-wing haters. Let’s not pretend you have any entertainment standards outside of what you are being paid to hate.
