Joe Kovacs played servile stenographer in an April 27 WorldNetDaily article:
It’s not observed until the autumn, but President Donald Trump is wasting no time gearing up for Columbus Day, the commemoration of explorer Christopher Columbus landing ashore in the Americas on Oct. 12, 1492.
“I’m bringing Columbus Day back from the ashes,” Trump said Sunday on Truth Social.
“The Democrats did everything possible to destroy Christopher Columbus, his reputation, and all of the Italians that love him so much.
“They tore down his Statues, and put up nothing but ‘WOKE,’ or even worse, nothing at all!
“Well, you’ll be happy to know, Christopher is going to make a major comeback.
“I am hereby reinstating Columbus Day under the same rules, dates, and locations, as it has had for all of the many decades before!”
Kovacs didn’t mention the fact that Columbus Day never actually went away — it didn’t stop being a federal holiday. He also makes no reference to what replaced Columbus Day for some, Indigenous People’s Day, or why it did: because he and his party, as a native American studies professor pointed out, engaged in “pillaging, raping and generally setting in motion a genocide of the people who were already here.” Instead, Kovacs rehashed a 2019 WND article (which it stole from he right-wing College Fix) complaining about a Michigan teacher who wore a shirt saying “Columbus Was A Murderer” without explaining why she is likely right.
Instead of offering any discussion of Indigenous Peoples Day or explaining why it is purportedly “woke,” Kovacs posted an image of Trump’s face superimposed on a portrait of Columbus.
