WND Helps Trump Perpetuate Lie About White Farmers In South Africa

Posted on July 7, 2025

WorldNetDaily loves President Trump’s bogus narrative of a “white genocide” in South Africa, so it’s unsurprising that it also cheered rump’s attack on South Africa’s (black) president during a visit to the White House. From an anonymously written May 21 article:

In his Oval Office meeting with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa today, President Trump showed a surprise video roundup of political leaders from that country calling for the death of white farmers, a longtime reality that recently resulted in white South African refugees arriving in the U.S.

Trump challenged the foreign leader with a stack of recent news stories about white South Africans being murdered and their farms being seized. Referring to a scene from the video showing white crosses, each representing a murdered South African, Trump said, “It’s a terrible sight.”

The video, entitled “Proof of Persecution in South Africa,” was posted on X by the White House:

[…]

Later, Trump asked Ramaphosa to explain how such persecution could continue, noting, “They happen to be white, and they happen to be farmers.”

The anonymous writer refused to explain that Trump got things wrong. As a reliable news organization reported:

  • Trump showed an image that he said showed “all White farmers that are being buried.” the image is from the Democratic Republic of Congo, not South Africa.
  • Trump also showed an image that he said showed the burial sites of white farmers; in fact, the crosses in the image represented all farm murders, not just those of white farmers.

Despite that, Bob Unruh doubled down in an article the next day, falsely claiming that “The crosses actually represent the lives of white farmers whose land was confiscated by the government and then who were murdered in racial violence.” He then praised the White House press secretary for perpetuating the falsehood:

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt on Thursday “nuked” a reporter who came with an assumption, asked Leavitt to respond and was corrected, then doubled down.

It was Yamiche Alcindor of NBC, formerly of PBS, which is involved in its own scandal at the congressional level now facing defunding demands from members who object to the institution taking tax money and then delivering leftist and biased reporting.

Alcindor cited footage of white crosses representing white farmers murdered in the white genocide being allowed by the government in South Africa, and referenced the “burial sites.” It was part of a video President Trump showed during an Oval Office meeting with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa Wednesday.

[…]

Alcinder said President Donald Trump described how the image showed a thousand burial sites.

“We know that that’s not true and the video wasn’t showing that,” she said, adding that Trump said the video “was showing a burial site, and it is unsubstantiated that that’s true.”

Alcinder said President Donald Trump described how the image showed a thousand burial sites.

“We know that that’s not true and the video wasn’t showing that,” she said, adding that Trump said the video “was showing a burial site, and it is unsubstantiated that that’s true.”

Alcindor immediately change course, suddenly asking, “Who at the White House” is responsible for protocols to prevent “unsubstantiated information” from being used.

Leavitt explained that one of the reporting organizations at the briefing, the AP, actually used the image and described it this way: “Each cross marks a white farmer who has been killed.”

Leavitt concluded that it was a “ridiculous” line of questioning.

Yes, Levitt would say it’s “ridiculous” that her falsehoods are being corrected. And Unruh is more than happy to keep that ridiculousness going.
