WorldNetDaily went into kneejerk conspiracy mode over the revival of the Jeffrey Epstein story — even though it makes Donald Trump look bad. A June 7 article taken from the Daily Caller highlighting Megyn Kelly’s claim that “Attorney General Pam Bondi’s days in the Trump administration are ‘numbered'” because she abandoned the right-wing conspiracy narrative over Epstein’s death by stating that he died by suicide and left behind no client list. This was followed by an anonymously written July 8 article highlighting that “President Trump interrupted his attorney general, Pam Bondi, at Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting as she began to answer a reporter’s question about recent criticism she has taken over a seeming lack of transparency involving the case against the late Jeffrey Epstein.” Another anonymously written article, on July 9, complained that Democrats have taken the initiative in trying to get the notorious Epstein files released:
In what some might call a Johnny-come-lately move, congressional Democrats are calling on U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi to release the Jeffrey Epstein files – because they supposedly mention President Trump.
The demand letter arrived Tuesday, the same day Trump upbraided a reporter asking about the Epstein files during a Cabinet meeting before allowing Bondi to respond. For days now, Trump supporters have condemned the attorney general for releasing a two-page memo Sunday claiming there is no Epstein “client list” and that there is no question he commit suicide in jail.
Yet another anonymously written article returned to the conspiracy narrative:
Convinced that his brother was most likely murdered in his Manhattan jail cell, Mark Epstein called the recent FBI memo dismissing that possibility “stupid.”
Fox News reports that Mark Epstein, 70, who has long disputed the suicide narrative, is one of many Americans, including Trump-supporting conservative influencers, who are skeptical of the government’s memo claiming there is no “client list” and that no evidence exists that Jeffrey Epstein was murdered.
Mark Epstein told Fox News Digital that when he hounded New York officials for answers, they didn’t even provide him with the 9-1-1 call reporting his brother’s death at a federal jail in Manhattan in 2019.
He said his brother was looking forward to a bail hearing at the time of his death and that autopsy findings were inconsistent with suicide.
An anonymously written July 10 article promoted yet another conspiracy theory:
Convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, a millionaire many times over, died allegedly by his own hand several years ago while waiting in a New York Jail for development of more sex charges against him.
People across America of multiple political ideologies have anxiously awaited the release of details about his death, and his associates during his lifetime, including a long list of high-profile personalities to include Bill Gates and Bill Clinton.
That, more or less, had been part of a commitment made by Trump administration officials just weeks ago.
But then came the Department of Justice notification, in an unsigned note, that little more information about Epstein and his lifestyle should be expected.
Obviously, the sudden change triggered an explosion of criticism and demands for details, which have not yet come.
But one explanation is being offered why Epstein information apparently, suddenly, went through a paper shredder, more or less.
Maybe he was a government asset?
That suspicion comes from things including his relatively gentle treatment when he first was convicted several years ago, and the currently handling of his record.
Note the weirdly qualification-laded words about how “Epstein information” had “apparently, suddenly, went through a paper shredder, more or less.” Which, of course, is not what happened at all. also note that the article’s list of “high-profile personalities” linked to Epstein omits one particular personality: Donald Trump. The conspiratorial connection is Epstein’s links to former Israeli prime minister Ehud Barak, which was first revealed several years ago.
The attorney who handled Epstein’s prior conviction and sweetheart plea deal was Alex Acosta; WND didn’t mention that Acosta was later labor secretary in the first Trump administration or that he’s currently a member of the board of directors at rival media organization Newsmax.
Bob Unruh called on another right-wing hand to weigh in for a July 10 article:
Amid the fights developing over what Jeffrey Epstein did, or didn’t do, and the documents and information the government has, or doesn’t have, regarding his pedophilia and his acquaintances, there comes a high-profile personality with firsthand experience.
Law professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz, a longtime leftist who was swept up in allegations that erupted from the Epstein scenario, his activities and his controversies, found himself accused.
Falsely.
Here is his assessment of what’s going on, with the DOJ’s statement that no more information likely will be released about Epstein, the claim he did commit suicide in jail while awaiting additional charges, and the charge that there is no scandalous “client” list of his acquaintances.
There has been no explanation from the Trump administration about why that information first was discussed for release, then abruptly shut down.
Unruh didn’t mention that Dershowitz used to be an attorney for Epstein and is no longer a “leftist.” Newsmax gave Dershowitz a TV documentary focused on those accusations, presumably as a reward for his talking-head work for the channel.
