MRC Complained That Hunter Biden’s Comments Weren’t Being Covered — Then Complained That They Were

Posted on September 9, 2025

We knew that the Media Research Center’s obsession with Hunter Biden would not end with the end of his father’s presidency. So when he resurfaced to offer opinions on the news of the day, MRC writers were eager to pounce. After calling in Craig Bannister from the tepid right-wing blog that used to be the MRC’s “news” division CNSNews.com to complain that Hunter “let the expletives fly” in a video appearance, Jorge Bonilla complained in a July 22 post that Hunter was being ignored:

It was another banner news suppression day for the legacy network evening newscasts. In addition to their continued non-coverage of the Biden autopen scandal and of the explosive Russia Hoax document drop, the legacies mostly suppressed the revealing interview of one Robert Hunter Biden.

ABC and CBS, in addition to ignoring the aforementioned events, made no observance whatsoever of the one-year anniversary of President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the 2024 presidential campaign and subsequent de facto appointment of Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee. NBC’s Kelly O’Donnell very gingerly navigated this potential minefield for NBC Nightly News.

[…]

It should be noted that the Biden portion of her roundup comes after extensive Epstein filler, which is how the media are primarily using the story. The Epstein story is of no use to the legacies except as A-block filler. Two minutes spent doing “MAGA in Disarray” over the files is two minutes not devoted to the Russia Hoax documents or the Autopen scandal.

In O’Donnell’s case, the Epstein filler enabled her to gloss over the wildest portions of the interview. O’Donnell mentioned Hunter Biden’s critique of George Clooney, but left out his railings against David Axelrod, James Carville, and the Obama Pod Bros.

Bonilla offered no reason why anyone outside his right-wing media bubble should care what Hunter has to say about anything these days — and he didn’t mention that Hunter might be a tad bitter that people like Bonilla and his employer spent years trying to personally destroy him by, hopefully, driving him to suicide.

Justine Brooke Murray served up in her own post that day:

Like the relatives of other White House has-beens, Hunter Biden has joined the pipeline of burdensome beneficiary to bloviator, publicly broadcasting his boredom with life.

In a three-hour long interview, laden with profanity, the ungrateful druggie moaned that he’s a martyr of his own laptop and crack pipe.

When he wasn’t trauma dumping over how hard it apparently was, being protected by our federal government and the media, Biden cursed out the nation that gave him his privilege, and the plebs who inhabit it.

It should come as no surprise that the legacy media mostly suppressed the interview.

Mark Finkelstein whined in a July 23 post:

Hunter Biden’s F-bomb-filled rant in which he attacked numerous Democrats by name was just too juicy for CNN to entirely ignore. But the liberal network clearly didn’t want to spend too much time on internecine Dem warfare, particularly when it relates to attempts by Democrats and the liberal media to deceive the American people about Joe Biden’s incapacity for office.

Finkelstein didn’t mention that his employer is denying that the Trump-Russia document dump was arguably designed to distract from reports about Donald Trump’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.

Then, despite his subordinates’ complaints that Hunter’s comments weren’t being covered, Tim Graham spent his July 23 column complaining that they were being covered:

Anyone who’s followed the dissolute life and times of Hunter Biden knows that no one wanted the Biden presidency to end less than Hunter. His father’s power was a cash cow, giving him millions he wasted on crack cocaine and hookers. So when he tried to mount a moral high horse in a three-hour podcast interview, that’s news.

[…]

Hunter and the other Bidens fervently wanted a second term for Joe, regardless of how capable he was. They all knew how incapable he had become, and pushed him toward another four years anyway. How was Hunter going to sell mediocre watercolor paintings after the White House years were over?

Graham, of course, then fund a way to whine about Epstein coverage:

The dominant story of the last few days is the assertion that Donald Trump sent a birthday card to eventual sex-trafficker Jeffrey Epstein in 2003. That’s somehow the momentous scandal of our time. They could talk about that for hours. Never mind the Bidens.

Graham didn’t explain why the Epstein story must be censored.
